Power up the unit while holding down these five buttons simutainiously ;
shift - shutdown - home - enter - exit
Hold down for about 45 seconds to a minute until you see the stereo light go on. The stereo light 'should' go on. Your screen will be all white, (or blank). The unit will look normal for a minute except your screen will be totally blank. Now, use the shutdown key as if you were shutting down. It will blink when it's ready - power off. Turn unit back on. It should start normally. Your work will be gone, but if you have back-up discs, you can reload it.

It sounds like you have either a hard drive failure or have lost the internal operating system in your unit.

BE VERY careful if you have critical data as it still might be recoverable.

I would contact the factory on this one.

The roland d10 powers up but none of the buttons or keys work? the screen just says "roland d10 synth"? please help!

The unit name is part of the boot sequence, it should go beyond that and boot up completely. If it gets stuck there, there is surely some problem. Maybe a depleted internal battery, I don't know. Ask a local service center, maybe there's a combination of buttons you could check out while on the phone prior to bringing it in for repair...

I can`t load the OS in my KORG PA 80. No way to make it work. I think than the problem is the mother board.

Have you tried it with batteries? Are you sure the power supply is working correctly? It should not need the OS to operate as a keyboard disconnected from the computer.

The cable connection is just a MIDI cable that uses opto-isolators so the 2 items are electrically isolated from each other. The software driver for the Korg should load without problem. The Korg program itself may be looking for inputs that are not there when the keyboard is off and the program itself reaches a stop command.

If the PA80 will not work on just the power supply- the power supply can be the fault- it has an internal fuse. Finding a similar supply with the same coaxial plug wired the same polarity is the way to test it if the battery option is not available.

HELP, with my gem sx2 music keyboard, working fine until one morning it would not boot up for me....it would get stuck when i turn it on... all i see is the buffering icon and the gem sx2...

I suspect an internal connector problem, maybe for floppy interface, that seek at boot when turned on.
Try to open the keyboard and gently disconnect and reconnect all internal cables (there are dozens). This is a very old model, but i enjoying it even today
Replacement Battery Problems Kurzweil Mk 152

Check the voltage provided by the cells. Each cell should be above 3 volts. Make sure they are installed with correct polarity and the contacts are making. Brand new cells CAN be bad and some holders may not contact properly.

The unit will not boot up.

Hi Jerry, I had that same message come up and like you I hadn't used the mkii that much...I was able to reach a tech at tascam and he gave me the following advice and it should reset the unit;.

Here's what he said to do; first you power off and then you hold down the following buttons;

quick rout button....shift button....send button...and the shut down button.....while holding down these 4 buttons turn on your unit.....when it says initialize..let go and hopefully it will reset....

Hope this helps JP
