Question about LG WM1814CW Front Load Washer

Another LE error question

I have a LE 1814CW that is 2.5 years old that has never had a problem before today. I was running my 2nd load of the day when it stopped mid cycle with the LE error. I have tried unplugging and then trying a rinse and spin.

It will turn counter clockwise, but when it tries to turn clockwise it makes a whirring noise and then goes back to counter clockwise. It does this for a few minutes and then goes back to the LE error. It isn't a problem with too many suds, because I use very little HE detergent.

Any ideas on what to replace to get this fixed?

Reporting back on my own problem. Ended up leaving the washer unplugged for about 36 hours and ran a rinse and spin and now it is back to working again. I've got my fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again.

I've had this problem before. LG told me unplug unit for 1/2hr & plug back in. I did this & ran fine after until now same thing again. I've repeated the steps again today waiting to see if this does the trick.

My washer ended up giving me the LE error again after a few more loads. I finally took it apart to see about replacing the sensor. I took it all apart and reseated the connections to the sensor and it has been working fine ever since. I will eventually have to replace the sensor because it is still having the occasional slow start trying to get turning but for now it is working and I don't have to take all the clothes to the laundromat while I wait for parts to arrive.

Here is some more info for anybody that needs it.
I ran into the same LE error on our LGAnother LE error question - 2_bing.gif washer. Tried replacing the Hall Sensor which did not fix the problem (Intermittent LE error).
Here is what I found: I had a cracked solder joint on pin W of my motor harness connector (RD1) on the main circuit board2_bing.gif. This caused a intermittent "Open" circuit indication to the computer which causes it to stop spinning and indicate "LE" on the display.
I had to remove the pink connector from my circuit board and dig out the humiseal around the other side of pink connector to gain access to the soldered in pins. Pin "W" just pulled right out when I removed the pink connector on the circuit board. I soldered the male pins back in place and also soldered the female motor wire pins right to the male pins coming from the circuit board. Wrapped electrical tape around them and I'm now operating with no "LE" error for now. I suspect that this is a VERY SIMILAR cause to alot of the "LE" error trouble people are getting. Here is a link to my website with pictures of what I did.

Okay, so I unplugged for 30 minutes, unloaded, drained, and even cleaned the sludge out from underneath the detergent holder... Plugged it back in, and works great.

Fix for Error Code "LE" on LG Front Load Washing Machine
I just had an interesting experience with our LG washing machine today. I found some hints for the solution online buried in some user forums, but I thought posting my particular solution here in a less cluttered blog might make it easier to find.
I had just run a load of laundry, emptied the machine, and reloaded. I put the detergent in and started the machine. After sitting for about 2 minutes with no activity, a "LE" error message appeared.
While the online forums indicated this might be a problem with a sensor, I was able to solve the problem by doing the following:
1. Press the Power button
2. Manually rotate the hopper 4 times clockwise and 4 times counter-clockwise.
3. Press the power button and run the machine normally.
Don't know if this will work for everyone, but it worked for me. If I keep getting the error message, I'll have to call LG and find out about this sensor I was reading about.

Have a top loading Kenmore elite high efficiency washer model 796.2927, 2 years old this thanksgiving is showing erroe code LE? what do i do to fix?

On most Kenmore front load washers the LE error indicates a LOCKED MOTOR ERROR. This can be caused by:

  1. Loose motor harness connection.
  2. Failed HALL SENSOR.
  3. Failed STATOR.
  4. Failed ROTOR (cracked magnet).

5 year old LG WD-1219BD has error code LE, ''overload in motor''

LE is a very bad error unfortunately. It means that your motor communication is being lost. Generally on these LG washers it means that you need to replace the motor sensor. You will have to take the back panel off so that you can access the motor, remove the pulley and take the motor off, there is a little plastic sensor that clips onto the edge of the motor. The sensor is not sold separately from the motor so you will have to replace the motor unfortunately.

Part would cost you around $120 plus labor.

This is a common error on LG. Better to repair and use it or fix it yourself.

Hope i helped you,

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Smell and "LE" error

I haven't been able to get rid of the smell for the 2+ years we have owned the washing machine!  I've tried everything.
We had a LE error light and they (the LG people) told us to unload the machine, unplug it for 30 minutes, plug it back in and then run it empty as follows: turn it on, select spin speed as "no spin" and then press start.  Run it that way twice.
Worked for us, but the smell remains.

Product Laundry Washer
Symptom Error Codes
Sub Symptom LE error code
Question Locked motor error code.
LE error code: This indicates a locked motor condition. Please check the following conditions. Large loads of laundry can put a strain on the motor causing the LE error code. Try removing some clothing and restart. Excessive suds can cause the LE error code. Make sure the customer is using an HE (High Efficiency) detergent. They should decrease the amount of detergent until the machine washes without suds. A few bubbles can be expected. Areas that have soft water will usually need to use less detergent. If you suspect that excessive suds are the problem, let the machine stand for 30 min (motor cool down) and then run a rinse and spin cycle before restarting the load. If these directions are followed and the code persists, the machine will likely need service. .

LG WM2277HW washer LE error

I was also having the LE error problem. I tried removing the unpumped water , tried re-running the load etc....... then I decided to try something else.... just like we have to restart our computers, I thought about resetting the washer so to speak......not sure if it is fixed, I am going to try running another load, but, I UNPLUGGED THE WASHER, LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS, THEN PLUGGED BACK IN.... AND THE WASHER WENT THROUGH A CYCLE AND FINISHED.
