Question about Cnet Pro200 Network Adapter

2 Answers

No Connection My daughter recently upgraded a pc from Windows 95 to XP. It has a CNet Pro 200 net adapter already. When he connected to DSL it gives him the message " a network cable is unplugged." The cables are good. Does this adapter work with XP?

Cnet's website does not show this NIC as having any XP drivers for it so I would say no it is not compatible.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

upgrade your windows xp, drivers are not required to use the router on your computer if you are using the windows xp. or you should have a look at your lan drivers first  or if you are trying to connect your router using the usb cable, please try to update your usb drivers.
for drivers download  http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/ADSL/DSL-210/Drivers/DSL_210_Driver.zip

Compaq presario sr2020nx ethernet adapter issue

Since youre setting up a DSL connection choose Set up broadband connection > PPPoE. You will need the username and password you were given to this account (contact customer service at your ISP for this info). Enter the info and have it remember the password. Click connect. Once Vista finds the connection, it will ask you to choose a network type (Home, Work, or Public). Select the type and enjoy. If the connection fails, recheck your username and password entries.

Most of DSL modems are connected to PC with USB cable...
n if ur server is connected with other pc on lan .. you can use internet sharing option available in winxp.

Following are the steps to enable Internetsharing for other pcs.

How to use Internet Connection Sharing loadTOCNode(2, 'summary'); To use Internet Connection Sharing to share your Internet connection, the host computer must have one network adapter that is configured to connect to the internal network, and one network adapter or modem that is configured to connect to the Internet.

On the host computer loadTOCNode(3, 'summary'); On the host computer, follow these steps to share the Internet connection:
  1. Log on to the host computer as Administrator or as Owner.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Network and Internet Connections.
  4. Click Network Connections.
  5. Right-click the connection that you use to connect to the Internet. For example, if you connect to the Internet by using a modem, right-click the connection that you want under Dial-up.
  6. Click Properties.
  7. Click the Advanced tab.
  8. Under Internet Connection Sharing, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.
  9. If you are sharing a dial-up Internet connection, select the Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box if you want to permit your computer to automatically connect to the Internet.
  10. Click OK. You receive the following message: When Internet Connection Sharing is enabled, your LAN adapter will be set to use IP
address 192.168.0.1. Your computer may lose connectivity with other computers on
your network. If these other computers have static IP addresses, it is a good idea to set them
to obtain their IP addresses automatically. Are you sure you want to enable Internet
    Connection Sharing?
  11. Click Yes.
The connection to the Internet is shared to other computers on the local area network (LAN). The network adapter that is connected to the LAN is configured with a static IP address of 192.168.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

let me know if it helps.

best regards,

Ethernet driver

dear brian,

to get you an overview on which components you have, although not installed or recognized by win xp pro, download pcwizard2008, install and run the hardware detection program, it'll give you a lots of details about your computer, you can even save the data to a pdf-file.

networking components on your laptop may be:
- the 1394 adaptor
- the( to be found) ethernet card
- and if it is onboard or u plug it in via USB 2.0 port: the WLAN-adaptor

look for the (onboard?) realtek ethernet
card(rj-45 plug, similiar to dsl-cable)
using pcwizard, find out about the model and download suitable driver rom the net for winXP.
install and then try setting up a network/internet connection

(be wise enough to use the right cable:
for hooking up your lap to an internet dsl-router use dsl cable, to establish PC to laptop connecton you will need DSL cable plus crossover adaptor !)
i recommend to use cable connections, they're
older, more reliable and for safety reasons, better than wirelessLAN!

if you have used the 1394-network adaptor before, you are better than me, I dunno anything about it.

WLAN is an option when using laptop not at home- but don't clearly understand if the toshiba model u use already has WLAN-onboard device or u do use an external, USB 2.0 device to connect to the net...?
please give more detail about that- and do tell which toshiba laptop u use as this is helpful for me to find u a proper driver, if still needed.

C U here on fixya?!
