Question about SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Screen fades to black.....

It started last night. The "refresh database" stops at around 1/8 of the way and then lines appear before the screen fades and goes to black. I already tried a patch and I tried to reformat.

First the laptop wouldn't reformat but then it did. However, I still get the same error.

I am able to go into Sansa in the "recovery mode" and I added a couple of songs for a test but I'm still getting the same error.

Any suggestions? Please?

Or an address where I may send it for repairs?

Thank you in advance!

Michele

Thank you. I tried that, too. I'll try again, though.

  • Charlotte22 Apr 02, 2008

Thank you!!! I'll do that. It's not lookin' so hot. Before I take a hammer to it, I'll call. LOL!

  • Charlotte22 Apr 02, 2008

I wanted to rate your help but I'm getting an error page. Well, I guess it's just a day for errors!

  • Charlotte22 Apr 02, 2008

LOL! Yeah, that would fix 'er good!

I've had it over a year but not quite two. It was a gift. I didn't use it a lot for the first few months and then I really got into it. Now I'm addicted. LOL!

  • Charlotte22 Apr 02, 2008

    Hee hee hee! ;)

    I'll try!

Thank you, I'll give them a call. Maybe if I wheedle and needle I can bend them to my will? LOL!

  • Charlotte22 Apr 02, 2008

10-4 on that! I hope it lets me this time. I don't know what the problem was earlier.

  • Charlotte22 Apr 02, 2008

I don't know what's up with this. It keeps giving me a "page requested not found" when I try to rate you. Is there another way I can rate you?

  • Charlotte22 Apr 02, 2008

    Okay, thanks! I'll do that.

    It's 1:02 a.m. now.

I should be sleeping....(sleep? what's that? LOL!) but here I am, itching to try working on the Sansa again!!

    Obsessed. Yep!

Well, have a great night over there!

    Take care!

STEP 1 - Reset the device
1. Slide the Power switch up and hold it for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power switch once the device is powered down.
3. Turn the device back on.

STEP 2 - Download and install the Sansa Firmware Updater
this is for mac os version.

Sana e280 frozen screen reads Refresh Database

put the player in recovery mode by placing the hold slide button at the top of the player so that the red showes, held down the record button while turning on the player. upon connecting the USB cable the unit will go into the recover mode. Go to my computer and look for the drive which states "16MB Format" and copy the firmware files into it. Disconecting the cable after the files are copied will cause the player to reload the firmware. The player will restart and then shut off because of the Hold button position. Slide the Hold button back into normal mode and push the menu button to restart. The unit will power up and display the language settings. I went to the settings menu and changed the player USB setting to USC. I then placed the player in recovery mode again and went to the MY Computer again and set window to show hidden files. This allowes windows to see the database drive. I then ran chkdsk on the database drive which found a lot of crossed linked files. This then allowed me to delete all the files in the database. Upon comming out of the recovery mode the unit restarted normaly.
You can get the firmware at this site. http://mp3support.sandisk.com/firmware/e200/e200v101.02.18a.zip

MP3 not being recognized by computer

My opinion.
No one here seems to understand the question...unless it's just me.
Not being recognized by computer means you should not be able to disconnect the device safely. Am I right?
I cannot seem to disconnect the device safely, which means that the refresh database option will not display and do so!
Help?

Screen remains on Refresh Database everytime I turn it on.

I've run into this also. a few options.. 1) Use the Sansa Updater software to upgrade firmware. (available on Sandisk website) 2) Sometimes adding a couple new songs back wakes it up.
