Question about Dryers
Our dryer won't run! The timer sounds like it is still working...ticking sound audible. The dryer won't start, though, when we push the start button. Could it be the switch box that is hooked up to the start button needs replaced?
If the dryer doesn't even start to turn when you press the start button, then you have to look at a couple things; The start button itself, the starting relay or the safety circuit. You mentioned that there's a ticking sound... if this sound goes away when you open the dryer door but comes back again when the door is closed, then the safety circuit is working.
It could be the switch itself or the starting relay (if equipped with one). If you're mechanically capable, consider looking at the relay. See if the contacts are being pulled in when the start switch is pressed (DANGER: HIGH VOLTAGE). If it is, the start switch is OK.
