Can this PC be converted to wireless? If so how? House has wireless thru AT&T. The original ethernet connect portal died. Already jerrymandered a second portal and that has now also gone dead.

The only way for making it wireless is buying a wireless network card/adapter that can be installed in your Desktop. You should look for a PCI/PCI Express Wireless Network Adapter.

Is there anything I can try for my Belkin router. It isn't working and the wireless light will not stay lit. I have unplug it and left it unplug overnight but still doesn't work.

Have you gone into network connection in the menus and see if your wireless in enabled and not disabled. If I am not mistaking, you need to connect the Ethernet cable to your laptop (leaving you wireless router connected) and go to the Belkin web site to reset your wireless router.

Your wireless service on your Laptop may not be started. To check: Go to "Control Panel" after it opens select "Administrative tools" Make sure you are viewing windows in Classic mode.
Once the "Administrative Tool" window is open select "Services" the very last one. Maximize the "services" window and scroll all the way to the bottom. Look for "Wireless Zero Configuration" and make sure this service is started.

Of course this is directions for Windows XP Pro. If in Vista the path is similar and the service is still called the same, I think..!

Thanks good luck.......you may also have a wireless button on the front side of the laptop that turns this service on and off.

My wifi icon has disappered on my toolbar and wont connect. was okay then i left it and internet connection is gone.

Hi there

It's important to see if you still have a wireless connection... start finding out in a couple of ways.

Go into Control Panel, Network connections, you should see the Wireless Connection listed.
Then check the status, it may be disabled. If so, right click it and select "Enable".

Also check if the wireless indicators on the laptop show it's on. There may be a switch on the laptop which turns on the wireless card.

Lastly, check if there's a problem with the wireless card:
In Control Panel, select Performance and Maintenance, then System. Select the "Hardware" tab, then open Device Manager. If there's a problem with the wireless card there will be an exclamation mark by it. If so you may need to reinstall the wireless card.

If you want more help please tell me the make and model of the laptop.

Hello i cant seem to get get my wireless working anymore..it used to work fine but now the icon is gone from the taskbar and when i go into control panel and click on the wireless assitant, nothing happens...

I think your system has a hardware switch to enable and disable wireless networking.
Please check, because if it is disabled using the hardware switch, you can not use the wireless device.

To recover your desktop icons, right click on the background and select "Arrange Icons By" then just re-select the "Show Desktop Icons" option.
As for wireless setup, do you have your router properly configured? Follow the instructions in the router manual. Post back if you need more help along with the model of the router.
Cheers.
