Question about Maytag PYE2300AY Electric Dryer
Our dryer quit working sometime in the first 20 minutes of drying time. I walked by and noticed a burning smell and that the timer was still going but the tumbler was not tumbling. I shut it all off and told my husband the next day. He was about to by a new dryer when I gGoogled our model number and found some advice about replacing the heating element. So...he ordered one for $23.95. It arrived today. He installed it. We turned it on with some wet towels in it. It worked! ...for about 3 minutes and then it just stopped. The top of the dryer was too hot to touch. We are wondering if this is a thermostat problem?
Hi, can maytag performa dryer (Model:PYET244AYW) can be converted in to propane gas system?

It could very well be a thermostat problem, however, it could also be the drive motor itself starting to burn out. Some dryers are equipped with a "Thermal Limiter" that will cut the power to heat. It doesn't seem to be the case for you. I would defiantely look into another thermostat but if it comes down to the motor, depending on the price, You may want to buy a new dryer.
