May be your pendrive has corrupted the files or may be your pendrive has some viruses. I suggest u not to use so much memory on pendrives as sometime pendrive automatically corrupt your data.Use small memory of pendrive. If u want to use big memory it's better u use hard drives
There could errors in the drive. You should either run a scandisk on it or format it altogether. Either should get it back up and running is it is a genuine device. 1. To check for errors/scandisk right click on the icon of the memory stick, select properties. Under the properties menu look for Error-checking and select check now. The check disk menu pops up. See that Automatically fix file system error box is checked. Then click on start. 2. If you decide to format the memory stick just right click on its icon and select format. But see that you move you vital files from it first else you will loose them.
Since it is an old drive. It could just been formatted on 2 gig where FAT system that can run using windows OS. Just partition the rest that is remaining, activate it and then format it to make it usable. You can use third party partitioning software if you like. And before I forgot check also its jumper if setting is lock to access on 2 gig only.
It seems to me that when the drive was partitioned, the whole thing was not partitioned. If using Windows XP you can go under the Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management and then Disk Management. You should be able to see the drive and if any unpartitioned space is available.
You only need to use disk management !!
Right click 'My Computer'.
In the left pane, under 'Storage', Choose: 'Disk Management'.
When device is connected it will appear as: 'Disk xx - Removable'.
It should be not allocated (Black Line), so you only need to created a new partition and format it.
Good Luck !! :-)
