Question about Dishwashers

3 Answers

I have a maytag mdb4000aww dish washer. The dishes aren't getting consistently clean. I wanted to clean the trap/filter. There's two ports towards the front side. The one on the right i was able to remove and clean. The one on the left moves up and down but i can't seem to be able to remove it (without breaking it). Any advice? Thanks

I have the same model. i have to clean out the sprayer arm about 1x per month in order for sihes to get clean. i remove it from unit and hold it over sink. using very small tweezers i remove crud from the holes. by running water through and truning it over several times you can get the pieces of crud to fill the holes and then remove them.

Hi
The port on the left is the float it has no filter don’t try to remove it. To get your dishes cleaner: step one, each time you wash run the tap water in your sink till it’s hot. Step two, buy what’s called “dishwasher magic” use that every 2-3 months. Three, use rinse aid. Four, check the sprayer arms, make sure all the holes are clear and that they spin freely when the dishwasher is loaded. There is the possibility that the interior motor area needs to be cleaned, if you’re handy you can remove the lower spray arm and the cover, lift that up to expose the interior motor area, this is fairly involved, if you’re not comfortable you should call for repair, it shouldn’t cost too much.

Is it running to a point or not turning on at all. If it runs to the point when it should pump out the water and stops, then it's not the boards or electrical. I have found with dish washers that they need a good cleaning every 6 months. Dismantle the rotating arms, take out the parts underneath and remove the filters all the way to where the water enters the pump. There's often grease and blockages here. The rotating arms also get stuff forced through them that clogs the outlet holes, so dishes don't get as clean. I've found orange seeds jammed in the outlet holes that then swell up with the extra water. Hair gets in and traps grease and all kinds of stuff. I've found the plastic wrappers from dishwashing "pods" clogging the filters. You'll find everything from toothpicks to bits of bone people leave on their plates

Top shelf dishes aren't getting clean in my 5 year old Whirlpool dishwasher. Any suggestions?

Hello,

The most likely reason the dishes in the uppper rack of your dishawasher are not getting clean is because the filter on the pump is built up withe debris and the water is havinga tough time circulating through the pump. This tip i wrote will show ya how to clean that filter.

Have a Maytag MDB4000AWW dishwasher that now leaves white residue on glassware. I think that the water is not getting hot enough. Does this model increase the water temperature, if yes how do you test that...

Hi,

The scum, film and white residue problems have started since the reduction of phosphates in dishwasher detergents.

Here is a tip that will help you to solve the problem of films, residue, and scum in your dishwasher.

Does not get dishes clean

There is a filter/trap located at the bottom of the machine held in place by 2 1/4 screws. This trap will be located at the lowest point in the dishwasher. Once the two screws are removed there is a lower tub that may have a bit of food debris in it. Sometimes there is food particles that do not get flushed out into the drain. Clean this area and you should be in good shape

Cloudy and dirty dishes after washing

I found this for you on YouTube. I don't think that you want to go to the extreme lengths that this guy did, but he does show how to disassemble the inside portion of your washer so you can get to the parts that need cleaning. This should get you back up and running, with sparkling dishes, and a big smile on your face! There are also oyher videos there, some selling products that may help.

Food particles and what looks like sand consistently left on dishes after cycle is finished

Clean the filter.  It is at the bottom below the wash arm.  Remove the wash arm by lifting it off.  The filter is a round ring the can be lifter out and cleaned.
