See if you can locate the source and remove the burning object (if it does not belong there) or replace the burning component (if it is a defective part). If you do not feel confident doing the service, get professional help.

be careful. It may not be not safe to use until it is repaired. A fire or explosion could occur. Unplug it from the AC until you get it serviced.

Hope this helps. :)

There is a strong electrical smell when I turn the TV on. Picture still works.

Unit is cooking and getting ready to self destruct. Check out your power supply visually and look for something that is discolored from heat. Also follow your nose.

Screen went black sounds of crackling and smell of burning wires

Hello
There is somethin wrong with either its EHT section or power supply section. Your description gives me very little to say a strong opinion. In both cases, it is very dangerous to handle the components at these sections. If you haven't got enough experience in handling high voltage electronic sections, never attempt to do anything with this TV. Normally EHT arcing is more common to this type RCA sets. In my opinion, get it repaired by any experienced service technician. OK.

I would need the model number of the set in order to assist. Often that type of symptom can easialy be fixed depending on what the model number of the TV is.

I was playing a game (PS3) and I heard a slight "pop" from the tv

User can't really fix this at all. Even a regular TV shop would have problem replacing individual components. What you can try to do is maybe order the board that has the burnt components, and raplace it yourself.

SAMSUNG 61" DLP, HL S6187WX keeps shutting off

Make sure there is plenty of air flow around DLP, If nothing is restricting the air flow then the fan may have a problem.
Dont use your DLP until the problem is diagnosed by a tech. Not only will you shorten the lamp life you can do unrepairable damage to the TV.
Call Samsung to see if the TV is still under warranty.

It very well could be the ballast. I unfortunately have this tv and keep extra bulbs because they go out about once a year. Last time when I replaced the bulb the tv blinked and the red lamp light flashed like it does when the bulb is bad. Ballast repair kit fixed it up. This is certainly a design issue but you'll get no help from Panasonic. If tv comes on the goes out after a while, clean the fan filter.

I have a 6 year old Samsung PCJ522R 52" TV.

It sounds like at least one of 3 "IHVT",s popped. in short, a "IHVT" is a high voltage transformer. It will have to be replaced along with any other parts that were damaged in the process.
They do produce a strong odor when they pop!!

It is repairable but at a price. there is a good chance that parts will have to be ordered.

you might consider buying a new LCD HDTV instead of fixing this one.
