The best solution is to "jump" or bypass the power switch and use an extension cord with a switch. The power switches have been unavailable as far as I know for over 10 years. If that's the only problem, it's totally worth it - the STA2100D is an awesome unit still today.

swap your red and yellow wire that supply your cd player chop and swap as one is memory the other is ignition to simply swap the red and yellow wire will solve your problem "BILLINGHAM AUTO ELECTRICS" !!!!!!!!!!
I have a sta-2080 realistic receiver and wide range frequency equalizer plus a tape deck sct-22 all realistic.My problem is when i play the tuner or cd player witch is connected to the aux
the volume goes soft and then loud with a lot of cracking sound now ther is hardly any volume.when i play the tape deck it has it own volume control every thing is good so what parts do i need. thanks corneil
if that is only a simple/usual reciever then you simply hook your laptop speaker out to any available line in of your receiver like aux, CD, DVD, video aux. but not the phono in please. you are just using the receiver as a simple amplifier for your laptop. is that what you need to know mam?
