Question about Fellowes PS60C-2 Shredder

3 Answers

Fellows ps60c-2 I have a fellows ps60c-2 shredder and after I removed the seven screws I could not get the powerhead apart. I need to know what is holding it together yet. It also is shredding on the left side but not on the right side (Power switch side). I am pulling it apart because somebody has let loose or broke inside and do you know what this possibly could do or have something to do with the shredding. I would very much appreciate any help. Thanks,

removed the 7 screws holding the housing together, but the housing still won't come apart - some other screw somewhere, or some magic that needs be performed to get the shredded head assembly apart? There something rattling about in the cutter head assembly - be nice to see what came loose and whether it is repairable.

Someone else suggested that there is a screw under a label that needs to be removed. I felt what seemed to be a screw head uner a label but when I cut through the label I found a melted blob of plastic, as if Fellows had decided to replace a screw with a more permanent solution that would stop people taking the shredder apart to try to clear a jam and/or replace parts inside (and therefore force them to buy a new one...)

Update to my posting of yesterday: It turns out there was a hidden screw hole underneath that same label where I found the plastic "blob" that I had thought was a screw head. Once I found that, I was able to take the shredder apart, pull out the wads of paper (and cardboard that should not have been shredded by the prior owner), applied proper lubrication, reassembled it -- and it still jammed. Apparently the gears in the gearbox are stripped. If I'd worked on more of these I probably would have opened the gear box first to check there. Oh well...

This was probally caused by a jam forcing cutters apart and breaking housing inside.

There is another screw hidden behind the bar code label. Slide your finger along the label while pushing end you will find the indentation. This was probably done to detect users opening the case and to void the warranty.

Make sure you remove all five screws--there's one hidden under the sticker on the underside of the shredding unit.

2 - Then remove the top. shredding part and flip it over.
3 - Carefully, with your fingers, not a pliers, remove all the paper bits and pieces from the underside of the shredder.
4 - Turn it back to right side up, and place it on the basket as it should be positioned, then plug it in and turn it on in REVERSE first.
5 - Once it starts, let it run until it stops; it should only be a couple of seconds.
6 - Turn the direction back to normal, and see if it will run that way.

Good luck,

Sometimes they hide another screw under the label. Try running your finger over the label and see if you can find a small dent, if you find one, then that is where the other screw is located.
