Sorry I haven't got to you sooner. Okay when I did what you said this is what came on the screen:

Please select the operating system to start:
    Mircosoft Windows XP Home Edition

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice. Press ENTER to choose.

For troubleshooting and advanced startup options for windows, press F8

Safe Mode ( < its in blue)

  • Keidelberg Apr 04, 2008

When I hit F8 a new screen pops up:

    Windows Advanced Options Menu
    PLease select an option:
    Safe mode
    Safe mode with Networking
    safe mode with command prompt

    Enable boot logging
    enable VGA mode
    last known configuation
    Directory services restore mode
    debugging mode

    Start windows normally
    reboot
    return to OS choices Menu

Use the up and down arrows keys to move the highlight to your choice.

-Thats what appeared when I hit F8

  • Keidelberg Apr 04, 2008

Alright, didn't work. I hit enter and soon as I did I hit the left & right control keys and the screen showed all those drivers and beeped then stopped with all the drivers still on the screen.

  • Keidelberg Apr 04, 2008

    Nope neither of those worked.

  • Keidelberg Apr 07, 2008

It does have a floppy drive. And No I have access to a XP cd and cd key #. And I know no other person with this same operating system.

  • Keidelberg Apr 07, 2008

Sorr I forgot to write I don't have access to a XP cd and cd #

  • Keidelberg Apr 08, 2008

UM, the same I guess. Windows? But I've looked through the stuff I have for this computer and didn't find a disk for windows.

  • Keidelberg Apr 09, 2008

If windows is the operating system, then yes. Does it matter if this one is newer?

  • Keidelberg Apr 11, 2008

Yeah they both are. Dooes it matter that the laptop says home edition and the home pc doesn't/ But yes they are both XP. I bet we could've skipped alot of stuff. Sorry

  • Keidelberg Apr 15, 2008

    Jeffrey Pemberton May 11, 2010

OK. If I remember right the whole idea was for you to be able to get some data or pictures off your system. Since you have that other system, I'm hoping that has a floppy drive too. Just say it does. Thanks. Now, got an empty floppy disk or one you wouldn't mind writing over the data on it? So, does the other pc have a floppy drive and have you got a floppy disk? ( please say yes.. we gotta get this fixed )

    Jeffrey Pemberton May 11, 2010

    Are they both XP ?

  • Jeffrey Pemberton
    Jeffrey Pemberton May 11, 2010

Meant to say you won't need XP cd.

  • Jeffrey Pemberton
    Jeffrey Pemberton May 11, 2010

Are you telling me the pc you've been using to talk to me has the same operating system as the problem child? Please say yes. You won't need XP and this will give us hope. Say yes!!

  • Jeffrey Pemberton
    Jeffrey Pemberton May 11, 2010

What operating system does the system have that you're using to communicate here have?

  • Jeffrey Pemberton
    Jeffrey Pemberton May 11, 2010

I'm changing tactics, but I still want know about the floppy drive. Also, are you using or know a friend or somebody that has a pc with the exact same operating system as yours? I know it seems like forever but If I had the thing in front of me it would have been 60 minutes.

  • Jeffrey Pemberton
    Jeffrey Pemberton May 11, 2010

Does that computer have a floppy drive by chance? Can you get hold of anybody's XP cd and cd key # ?

  • Jeffrey Pemberton
    Jeffrey Pemberton May 11, 2010

Alright. Don't get down. It just seems like forever because we have to communicate like this. I'm not sure how long you held down the control keys down for but the beep tells me a little lone. Probably doesn't matter though. Power down completely. Try it one more time just the way you did it. Just after you hold the control keys for a couple of seconds let go.When it's trying to load safe mode let it go for a little while. (you probably did anyway) If it does the same thing again, power down completely and when you power up go through same steps you did to get to the Windows advanced menu options. This time choose last known good configuration (or something like that) Try these things and I'll be waiting for your reply. Hang in there.

So on that new screen , try to tab to safe mode but as soon as you hit enter to go to safe mode, hold down both control keys. Holding them down loads the minimal number of drivers in safe mode. You should see what you saw before, several lines of stuff going by but not nearly as many as before. Try it and let me know what happens.

  • Jeffrey Pemberton
    Jeffrey Pemberton May 11, 2010

Were you able to select safe mode, hit enter and right after you hit enter hold down both control keys? If not why? If so what happened? We're gonna fix this thing!!!

I forgot in my second comment to say it was ok to hit enter. After you highlight just ne ready to hold the control keys. Then hit enter and hold them.

Read my comments from bottom up.

Okay, I'm gonna will this thing to work. If it's not already there, power that baby down. Now , don't get ahead of me. I know you've tried some of this before, but....Power that puppy up and as soon as you do start and keep hitting F8. I don't care if it beeps all day. You don't have to go too crazy but you know what I mean. When you get to the list, you will, use your arrow keys to highlight safe mode. Now don't hit enter yet. Right after you hit enter, hold down the left and right control keys at the same time.

Hold them for a minute and you should be able to boot to safe mode. I know. You've tried it before but not like this. After you try it, let me know ASAP if it worked, and if it didn't exactly what it showed you on the screen. Remember, just add a comment to this post. It's at the bottom.

Have we gone over this question? Is this a new post? If it's new, please just keep adding a comment. Found at the bottom of your post. Just type away and click on comment. There's too many unsolved solutions for this problem all over the place. Is this the last rime you talked to me? I don't know if it is or not. Hard to keep track. Since you don't have your Windows cd- I had asked if your laptop has a floppy drive. If it does, I wanted to know if it was set to boot before your drive and could you make it so if it is not. If you have floppy drive there's got to be a way of doing this.

When you reply just add a comment. When you specificall ask me something it opens another problem. Please be sure to just a comment to this. You can find it below.

My laptop is acer travelmate 6293 i want to make

Hello,

Restart your laptop. Press ALT and F10 together continuously quickly when you see the Acer Logo at start-up. Keep pressing this combination until it says "Loading Files".

Note that you have to have the original Acer Setup and did not format the hard drive then this option will work. Also note that when you do the restore, all info on "C" Drive is lost so it would be advised to make a backup before restoring.

Hey,
I have found a firmware update for you >>>>>>>>>>>>>

http://rapidshare.de/files/38524138/PHILIPS-SDVD8821-FWUpdateVersion-EX31.ZIP.html

Remember be careful with any firmware updates, since for instance EX31 means here not only F/W version, but also drive IDE setting / "orientation" (MASTER / SLAVE / Invert CSEL)
and there is absolutely no warranty that this update will fix your drive reading problems...

Good luck :)

Down load all drivers of amilo pro v3515

Okay heres the situation, I can't get you a link directly to your laptop page with the drivers cause of the way they have the website setup but I'll give you a walkthrough on how to get there. Go to this link: http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/com/support/downloads.html From that page choose the product (notebooks), choose the product group (amilo pro), choose the product family (v3xxx), choose the product (v3515). From there you have to choose the operating system you have on your laptop and then you can download the appropriate drivers. Sorry there isn't a more direct page I can get you to but its not the way there website is setup, hope this helps you. I'll be glad to help you further if you need it.

Acer Aspire 4720Z

Hey there neha patne, based on the info given, my best guess is that your boot sequence is not placing your harddrive as your primary boot device. While you are in the setup screen (via F2), locate the boot sequence line and enter. Change setting to place harddrive as primary boot device, disabling the other options and not leaving it as an auto-detect setting. Save changes and reboot. Also please ensure there are no media in the drives or unnecessary peripherals plugged in while booting up. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Wont let me type in internet addresses- only accepts numbers

My best guess with the limited info given is that your settings on your computer are somehow not right. My best guess is your IP address is not correct. When you right click on my network places and go to properties you should see a list of connections. Double click on the one you believe is your internet. Click on the support tab and at the top it should say next to address type "assigned by dhcp" not "manually assigned". Hope this helps.
