My d link WBR-2310 router

Hello,
my d link WBR2310 router will not let me set up a new network connection. It works on my XP PC but not my new Vista PC! I am not even trying to access via the wireless side just straight from the router into the PC! What is it with vista that this does not like??
Any help much appreciated

Thanks

Martin

Actually, the WBR-2310 router is certified compatible with Vista, see here.

That is because your router isn't made to be compatible with windows vista, meaning that your only solution is to get a router that is (i.e. Linksys or Netgear)

Hi my d-link 2310 wbr you can see it's working but no signal for the wireless

There are Old computers cant conect to the higher frequencies of the new routers so if you have tested the router on a newer computer and its working i suggest you either:

1. connect by cable.
2. buy a new network card.
3. buy a new computer.

(Also the antenna can be lose or be broken just screw it lose and check.)

Cannot connect to the internet through the D-Link WBR 2310

INSTALL WINDOWS XP LATEST UP-DATES, SP3 IS THE LAST UP-DATES PACKAGE, AFTER INSTALLING MICROSOFT XP SP3 UP-DATES, INSTALL THE LATEST FIRMWARE OF YOUR ROUTER, INTO YOUR ROUTER, THEN TRY TO CONNECT, I HOPE IT WILL WORK, ALSO CHECK IF YOUR FIRE WALL IS NOT BLOCKING YOUR ROUTER.

D link router security wbr 2310 Once I set up my router, how can I check if my security is working?

Is there any computer online using the router.
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings.

Click Here for more information about the routers and network

My Dlink Model WBR 2310 has to be reset all the time to connect. It says ''limited connectivity'' after unplugging the router for 10 seconds. My laptop connects. This happens just about every day.

when you are connected, go into cmd, type ipconfig /all and note down the ip addresses. in xp, click the wifi icon on your taskbar, then properties and scroll down to tcp/ipv4. click properties, highlight use the following ip address and type in what you found in cmd. for dns, highlight the use the following dns settings and type what you found in cmd. for vista, click the network icon, open network and sharing center and then view status (do the same as xp from then on). hope this helps

My wireless network gets dropped

HI! that is correct.. your device wont connect bcoz you change the wep, ssid name etc on the router.. if the security settings is change from the router and your wireless devices have the old settings it wont work and it will not connect.. you need to enter the new wep, ssid name etc to the wireless devices in order to connect to the wireless network..

Sounds like you need to 'copy' the mac address of the computer it was orginally hooked to before and put it into the router. Some routers have an option to do this in the settings menu of the router with one click.
