I've had the Hitatchi 53UDX10B for six years. Had it repaired for a convergence problem when it was 2 1/2 years old; now 2 1/2 years after it being fixed, experiencing the same problem. Do TV's have any lemon laws? I'm very dissatified with the Hitatchi -- definintely won't buy another Hitatchi item again!!!

TV's don't have lemon laws but STATES do and depending on your STATE they have some laws pertaining to TV's normally not but for AUTO' s, YES.
Make sure the repair was performed by AN AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER, because there was an upgrade repair for your TV. Did they perform it? If not don't blame the factory but the repair company.

The convergence IC's need to be replace on the convergence board, or just buy a new convergence module, and that will fix the problem.

Convergence output Ic's need to be replaced along with possibly resistors and fuse. service shop charges between 250-300 total ( IC's cost 15-30 each(x2)+ resistors and fuse)

Poss. convergence problem with Hitachi 53UDX10B Ultravision

You have convergence problem. Either bad connections on ics, ics are bad or voltages to convergence circuit are missing. There are no bulbs in this set. 3 picture tubes,red,green and blue produce a picture than when alighned(converged) correctly on top of each other gives you a color picture.When not you get the effect you are describing. Frst you can try the magic focus in the menu.

More than likely it is a convergence problem. Best way to tell is to unplug the plugs marked red conv, blue conv, and green conv. Careful not to unplug yoke plugs by mistake, and make sure you mark plug and board when disconnecting. If convergence amps are the problem, set should power up with convergence plugs disconnected. Do not leave set playing very long. This is just to verify problem. Your welcome, Russmann.

Since this is a CRT based projection set, there is no "lamp" involved. Does the picture look like 3-D? If so, the problem is likely to be a convergence problem. There should be 1 or 2 convergence ICs marked STK392-110 inside attached to a heatsink. If you can solder, try resoldering the pins on those ICs. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace them.
