Check if it is in automatic and if so try manual. Also check to see if there is a safety switch on the bottom that may be stuck. If not, you may have a defective switch that may be repaired/replaced

Space heater stopped working

First, check the warranty to see if it still in effect. I suspect a bad contact, broken control or problem with the heater element connections. If there is no physical damage from being dropped, tripped over, etc., then something like this would be a manufacturing defect (premature failure). If it's out of warranty, and you know how to use a multimeter, you could unplug the heater and start checking the continuity of the parts and wiring inside.

Hi - I have an old Glen Dimplex CLX (I think is the name) wall heater. The switch for turning on the heater broke 2 days ago. It sounded like a fuse blew. How on earth can I get this fixed?!

Hi,

You say the heater is 'old', so I assume that it's out of its 2 year warranty? Are you referring to the wall-switch or the switch on the heater itself?

The customer service department will be able to give you guidance on finding the problem and resolving it. If you call 0845 600 5111 and have your series number (top left of the unit) and model (CXL) to hand they will be able to help you.

P.S. Please don't try to take the heater apart or remove it from the wall unless you have experience in working on storage heaters, as the unit is VERY heavy!

-Dayton 3E371D NG heater unit. -problem:we asked a contractor replace iginiter, but it lights on and off for a couple of min.(maybe 5min at the beginning of the day) then it works properly.shut off &...

Hi,
A couple of thoughts... I can think of a couple of ways to take this.
1.) the fire is going on and off for five minutes.
2.) the blower is turning on and off for five minutes and the fire keeps going the whole time.

If it is 2 and the air is fairly cool in the area of the heater, this is very common. The cool air say below 60 F will cool off the heater faster than the fire warms it so the blower turns on and off. This is normal operation and do not worry about it.

Now, if it is 1, then we have more problems..if the unit is power vented then the pressure switch may be cool and erratic causing it to be crazy till it warms up.
The flame sensor may also be cause eratic operation till it gets warmed up good.
The ignitor that the contractor used to replace your old one may not be an exact match and cause erratic operation till warmed up
There could be a crack in the heat exchanger that blows on the pilot and causes problems till the heat exchanger warms up and closes the gap, or changes the air flow pattern.

As you can see I can just off the cuff give many ideas as to what your problem may be. You will have to sort through these or have the contractor come back and figure out what exactly is the problem.
I'm sorry that I cannot give you and exact cause, I hope you understand.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Vulcan quasar40 keeps turning off we think it has a timer stuck on please help

Probably a bad clock, they **** out from all the heat up there. Have a gasfitter or electrician bypass it. (2 wire plug behind fan lever) - unplug it, cut off from the loom going up to clock, crimp the ends together on the plug you have just cut off, plug it back in. Your heater is now a manual with no dodgy clock.

How to work a slimline creda nitestore heater

I have one of these heaters as well. The input/output dials are thermostats.

The higher the input dial is set, the more power the heater draws during its charge cycle (ie the "on" period that is set on your time panel). Which means a higher daily ration of heat, and a bigger power bill.

The higher the output dial is set, the more quickly the heater lets the stored heat out. So the highest setting would give you most of your daily ration of heat during the "on" period but less heat for the "off period... while the lowest setting would give you a relatively constant heat output throughout the day.
