Asus eee pc 4g error message grub rescue

This would imply a Linux distro.. What are you attempting to do, exactly? The error occurs when you install Linux and then it is removed;(sometimes incompletely other time when you remove the partition from the Windows Disk Manager). If you want to retain Linux, just put the disk/flash drive for it back in and finish the installation or boot to the recovery. If you only want a Windows system, follow the steps:
  1. You'll need a disc for the version of Windows on your hard disk drive. Place it in and select for whatever will bring you to your advanced options. (This is so you can get to your recovery command prompt).
  2. Instead of Restoring from Disk Image or whatever other standard choices you have, you'll want the command prompt.
  3. Using the following commands will restore the Windows Partition, if it's on there still.
    1. bootrec.exe /fixboot
    2. bootrec.exe /fixmbr
    3. bootrec.exe /ScanOS
    4. bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd
  4. Once you reboot afterwards, it should restore your Windows system if it didn't get removed during the Linux installation.
Hopefully this helps, if not; I'll need more information as to how it happened.

I have a flashing apple on the screen of my ipod nano and I can't get it to switch on.

  • Hold down Select / Menu (to reboot the iPod)
  • As soon as the Apple logo appears, hold down Rewind / Select until...
  • ...you see a backwards Apple Logo.
  • At this point, you will have entered Diagnostic Mode. It'll test the RAM, and then tell you to HIT PLAY TO CONTINUE. Hit 'Play'.
  • You'll be in a menu that you advance by hitting FF (Fast Forward). Advance to the 'DISKMODE' entry.
  • Hit 'Select.' This will put you into Firewire Disk mode. The screen should change to the familiar 'Do Not Disconnect' mode. At this point, connect it to the computer.
  • Run the restore utility; it should now recognize the iPod and offer to Restore the factory software. Do so. You'll lose whatever's on it, but you'll avoid having to send it back in to Apple and pay them $49 or whatever to do basically the same thing. :-)

In windows xp, vista, and 7, one can 'restore' back to factory settings. For specific instructions go to 'restore' in the help section of the start menu.

New unit for me

You can stick in the restore disc into the system and power it on. They will typically read the disc without needing to press anything. If that is the case, then a screen with HP Recovery Manager should pop up asking you if you would like to restore to factory default settings. BEWARE: This process will wipe the drive before installing the files from the disc as it clearly states proceeding with this process.

If it doesn't automatically read the disc when the system powers on you may just need to tell it to boot from the CDROM drive. When you power on the system in the first ~3-5 secs you typically see the HP brand in the middle of the screen with a blue background. Towards the bottom of the screen for a few seconds you will see items such as: "Press Esc: Boot Menu, Press F2 to enter Setup, Press F10 System Recovery". What you want to do is press whatever button it says that is assigned to the "Boot Menu or Boot Device" option which most likely is the Esc key.

I would press whatever key is it 3-4 times when you first power on the system. If the screen turns to another menu that lists a set of devices you want to look on the list for OPTICAL DRIVE / CDRW / DVDRW or something with CD DVD in it. Use the arrow keys to move up and down the list and press the enter key once you have one of these items highlighted. It should then take you to the HP Recovery Manager to start to restore the machine to the factory default settings.

Need a restore disk for acer laptopex4420

Hello

Thank you for using
FixYa for your problem

Windows 7 and Vista has a feature called System Restore that automatically backs up registry and system files whenever you install new software or drivers. This feature is useful when you install evil software that makes your computer run really slow. But don’t worry, System Restore won’t remove Windows Vista.

Using System Restore in Windows

There are two places that you can use the system restore feature from. From within Windows, you can just type restore into the Start menu search box, and you’ll immediately see System Restore at the top of the start menu:
now just follow it all

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

Computer keeps freezing and losing work i have

Happens to the best of us, buddy. In time with, miscellaneous program installs making minor tweaks to system files here and there, the ol girl is bound to get cluttered. Your best option is to do a quick Time Machine backup which will back up all your documents and personal items, then pop in your leopard disk to do a quick reinstall. Your computer will be shiny and like new :) Boot from the disk. When it comes up select the disk utility from the menu bar and partition the hard drive to 1 partition and take the default settings (but name the partition whatever you want, this is where you would type Hard Disk if you want it to remain titled that). Continue on the install leopard path, and when it's all done and you're logged in, fire up Time Machine and restore your stuff.
Grab a beer and enjoy your fresh install :)

My account will not load

Yes, many ideas, but all won't help.....
I'v also faced this prob, but in my case the only way was to re-install OS....... I knw it's a bit labourious and time-consuming..... but for u it's the only way......... F8 button configs won't work as it's not ur system prob, it's probably one of ur recently installed softwares which messed ur system up.......

After installation of OS, if u r facing this prob again some time.... I shud reccomend Rollback Rx[jus google it], a superb system restore software installed below OS......

Re-install ur OS, and do the first thing by installing this gr8 thing.......
