Asus eee pc 4g error message grub rescue

This would imply a Linux distro.. What are you attempting to do, exactly? The error occurs when you install Linux and then it is removed;(sometimes incompletely other time when you remove the partition from the Windows Disk Manager). If you want to retain Linux, just put the disk/flash drive for it back in and finish the installation or boot to the recovery. If you only want a Windows system, follow the steps:
  1. You'll need a disc for the version of Windows on your hard disk drive. Place it in and select for whatever will bring you to your advanced options. (This is so you can get to your recovery command prompt).
  2. Instead of Restoring from Disk Image or whatever other standard choices you have, you'll want the command prompt.
  3. Using the following commands will restore the Windows Partition, if it's on there still.
    1. bootrec.exe /fixboot
    2. bootrec.exe /fixmbr
    3. bootrec.exe /ScanOS
    4. bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd
  4. Once you reboot afterwards, it should restore your Windows system if it didn't get removed during the Linux installation.
Hopefully this helps, if not; I'll need more information as to how it happened.

Boot errors

Made an amazing discovery recently.. could not boot an HP laptop and even tried installing OEM software to no avail. Then, on a whim, I decided to try to boot the HP with a restore disk from another, totally different HP model. Works as advertised! Try it with an Acer (or whatever brand you have) restore disk.

Shut your computer all the way down. As soon as you turn it on, start hitting F8 about 3-4 times, that will take you to an advanced options menu. Select "Last known good configuration" and that should work

My friend gave me an HP G60 and told me that you can log in but it just shows a black screen. After I log in, the whole screen is black, not off, just black with the cursor in the middle. It happens even...

Your friend probably tried to replace 3 .dll files so that you can use custom themes for whatever OS is installed on the computer. The only way to fix this is to recover the computer and restore to factory settings.

When you boot the computer hit escape to access the boot menu. See if there is a recovery manager option, and in there, a restore to factory settings option. (Also, hitting F11 works). If you have no option like this (this is essentially booting without a disk) you'll need a copy of your system restore disks that came with the computer.

I have an acer aspire 5315-2153, I am getting a low disk space error and want to reset to factory. I don't have any disk any idea what I can do?

In windows xp, vista, and 7, one can 'restore' back to factory settings. For specific instructions go to 'restore' in the help section of the start menu.

HP dv9700 was working fine. Re booted after it froze and now it's super slow. 20 min for password screen to come up. HELP!!

If it is extremely slow, then what has happened it alot of windows has corrupted. If you have your recovery disc, the simplest method is to stick in the first disc and reboot to it.

Fix the boot sector with it.

My Gateway computer will not boot up. I

If you have tried to restore from the restore disks, do you know if it formatted the hard drive yet or not?

Once the format begins and you find that there is an error on the discs (can't read or whatever) then the next step is to either do a clean format or order a new set of discs from the mfg and restore from those.

They are not terribly expensive, but you will have all the drivers already on the restore as opposed to a clean install.

Good luck

God Bless

Dont know how to restore factory settings

to restore OS (factory), there are 2 ways.
1. If you already create recovery disk, you can boot from disk and follow step by step.
2. I hope you haven't deleted the recovery partition in your hdd. If you haven't, Boot your computer, before it go to windows, press Alt+F10. it will go to recovery menu, this will wipe out your C drive.

you can order recovery cd from acer, but they will charge you (i don't know how much).
