Re: High Speed and viruses
Slowness can be caused by viruses.
Run a virus scan and see what comes up.
If there are viruses on the computer, you may want to consider Restoring your computer to factory settings.
But before you do that
Run a virus scan; go to Symantec and run it or download AVG free.
If you decide to restore to factory settings, I will be glad to help you. Understand, you will loose everything on the computer, and you will have to run all your programs again, set up your network connection and email. Very time consuming.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Is you computer slow when using software offline? If so, it is either AOL or your internet. Don't judge the speed strictly by going to AOL. Go to Speakeasy Speed Test and test your internet speed. If that shows your internet is running at the speed you are paying for, it si AOL having trouble. You don't say which browser you are using, but most browsers have an option to block pop-ups. Make sure it is on.
Run a virus scan on your PC to see if it is infected. Also defrag your hard drive to speed it up some.
Hi Friend, You Computer and Graphics card all things is good configuration. Some tips you follow. A> If you PC virus infected then slow down you PC. B> RAM memory increase because high HD game not support or slow speed problem. C> Check you internet speed connection, because you are live game play. D> And finally not solved then you re-install windows and again all driver proper install. I hope solved you problem.
Are you noticing it to be very slow online or just in general use? If it's just slow online then it could be your internet connection. If it's generally slow then I suggest a disk defrag, disk clean-up and a virus scan.
Assuming you are speaking about download speed, you should remember that you pay for "up to" so-many-mbits per second. I pay for 15mbps, but I assure you that I have never once seen speeds anywhere near that. Also, your speed is all dependent on where you're downloading from. For instance I get a great connection from microsoft, but a rather poor connection from other places. If she is using a wireless connection, have her use a LAN cable if at all possible. Also, have her scan for viruses with programs like avast, spybot, and malwarebytes because if she has viruses they could be slowing her connection speed down a lot if they're making internet connections on their own.
Get the resource manager running and find out what is gobbling up the menory. Find the processes that are high use and stop them one at a time until you see the useage drop.
I had something (whose name has escaped me) that ran itself ever time I booted up. Every time I did this, I would stop that process, and that solved the trouble. I eventually found the source and killed it!
Good luck on finding this evil process ... Please let me know what your specific issue was so I can make note of it.
Hello Flecia, hi;
The processor speed do someway affect the speed of your webcam, but the most common reason why webcam gets so slow is the program that shows the video. Skype has good quality videos, depending also on the speed of your internet connection and the graphics card installed on your PC.
Check also for computer viruses, these programs and malwares slows the PC down. Well a clean PC is fast enough, check also your hard drive, you may need to defrag it every month. Your Ram is sufficient enough, and your processor being a 2.8 ghz is still fast.
So here are the things you may need to do.
Defrag your hard drive every month. or better, reformat your PC every 6 months to a year.
Check for computer viruses and malwares.
Install Skype (which I recommend) for your webcam online software.
Get a fast Internet connection (if you are willing), atleast DSL minimum is 512KBPS.
i think it is not true. because speed of computer depend processer and ram . u can chang high config . ram than using . it can help little make high speed. temp file can make slow so time by time we remove this file. virouse can make slow computer. if bord is short it make hang computer.
Dialup phone lines usually only transmit a minimum of 8 Baud. NetZero's high speed (5X) faster is done by caching pages you have already visited, not actially running internet but loading pages faster on your computer. Check your modem setting, 56k, 112K are normal speed setting to connect. Check your actual connection speed, 28.8 is probably all that you are getting on dialup.
Hi Jean, sounds like you might need to add more memory to your PC. A fast Internet connection won't make a slow machine run any faster. If you right click on My Computer and choose properties, the box that comes up should tell you how much memory you currently have. If it's 512mb or less, that's a good indication that that is the problem.
