Question about Akai LCT2662 Television

1 Answer

Akai LCT2662 We have this tv here in our shop - we have replaced caps after caps - the tv is playing fine the only problem is as soon as you turn on the tv a high pitched squeel starts and will not stop until you turn the tv off. Instantly the squeel starts and stops as soon as you hit the power button.

same here, it's problematic... The tv tuner went bad, but everything else works. I only get the high pitched audio feedback when using it as a PC monitor. Using it for gaming on a 360 no audio issues on the RGB's. But the ypbpr is buggy as hell too, real picky on what u plugin working.

You're getting some feedback on the secondary transformer - most likely... Try to isolate where the pitch is coming from and see if it's harmonic. May just need to be glued down or have some leverage place against it...

My toshiba 40sl412u turns on for a second then off

You more than likely have faulty capacitors on the power board. the caps won't let the power build up.

the general steps are
  1. unplug your tv.
  2. lay it glass side down on a soft thick blanket to protect the glass.
  3. remove the rear panel.
  4. identify the board with the power connector.
  5. remove it.
  6. find replacements for the electrolytic caps, the cylinders looking ones.
  7. unsoldier, then resoldier the caps.
  8. put the TV back together
This will generally cost $10 for the caps and less than $50 for the soldiering equipment. You tube has a vast number of videos on this.

a tv repair shop locally should cost less than $100. should be even less if you remove the board and bring it to them. there are companies that you can send the board in and they will repair and send it back.

Mind you $100 is cheep VS a new tv. I replaced the caps in mine for 10 bucks and a few hours of time, but I'm a highly qualified electronics repair tech.

I have a TV SHARP AQUOS LC-32D44U model, does not turn on instantly, when I turned on the TV, get flashing the POWER and OPC LEDs; I turn on and off several times until it turns on normally, please I need...

the Caps (capacitors) have one foot in the door on your PSB-Power Supply Board. Pretty soon you'll get no OSD-On screen display and be left with a blinking fault LED Code. Caps are cheap and easy to replace with Intermediate skill. Or pull the PSB yourself and take to a PC repair shop that solders at board level to replce the UF Caps that are going bad. If you need instructions on how to do this let me know.....

My tv wont turn on green light flashes and just goes back to stand by

Most likely, you are having power supply problems. Your tv has a specific board in it that controls the distribution of power to the tv's components. If it fails, no tv. Sometimes this happens after a power surge. Many newer lcd tvs contain power supply boards that have been manufatured with sub par capacitors on them. They were undetectable when the tvs were tested, because they work fine for a while and then deteriorate quickly. Sometimes in less than a year. Its a very common problem.

There are a few ways to fix it. That is, of coarse, if this is your problem.

1. Have it fixed by a professional.

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE. Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board can cost in the hundreds. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. You can find TV repair kits online to repair this problem but it takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.
I replaced the caps on the PSB in my Phillips TV and it worked. Here is the tip. Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm sure that this isn't your board but it will give you an idea of what the process is like.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and thanks for using fixya

Tv is on, sound works, but no picutre. As soon as turn on tv, says please wait but quickly the tv turns black. please help

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

Apex converter boxes malfunction.

If the converter box wont power on and makes a cyclic whinging noise, it may be one of the 4 470uF caps on the low voltage side of the power supply. Check for domed tops on the caps nearest the fly back transformer (center of the board). I replace all four of those caps just to be sure and it is playing fine now.

TV turnes off for no reason

Ur high voltage intermitionly causing the prob.
The FBT,the flyback transformer is cold solder or slowly dying just not dead yet.The big block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook up to ur CRT(tv tube). That the cause.

Having problem turning on

Your shop has probably checked the remote and the mating receiver in the set so I would bet on (or against) the power supply. They need to check all electrolytic caps ranging from about 1uF to 100uF in the main power supply circuit with a meter that can measure both value and DF (losses) and preferably at 1kHz minimum. Those that are found failed (shrunken value & high losses) they should be replaced with low ESR types rated for higher frequencies. Additionally, they should bypass any caps so found with ceramic capacitors of no less than 0.5 uF. These caps will prevent the destruction of the replaced electrolytic caps again.
If the shop does not own such an instrument, find another shop.
