Is that the 5 ft. cable with 5 plugs on it? If it is it's Sony part # VMC-MD1. I called Tiger and they don't sell them. Haven't checked on ebay but they're $39 other places. Just do a search for VMC-MD1 and the very first place listed, I think dcables.net or dcable.net ( not sure) has them. Found one place that sells them for $34 but they're out of stock. Hope this info helps you out.

The required cable uses standard USB connectors. USB A male on one end and USB Mini-B 5 pin male on the other end. There are any number of sources to purchase one, here is an example.

Lost USB cable for camera. Where do I get new one? What to ask for?

Go to Staples or Tiger Direct or Canadian Tire, or some dollar stores cary it too, Radio Shack , the Source etc.
Ask for reg -USB to mini USB, bring camera there so you can test it. You can get a 5 volt charger as well for about 12.00.

To find out how to download photos on my computer

The easiest method is to purchase a CF card reader. Once plugged into your computer you can remove the card from the camera and place it into the reader. A new drive will become available to the computer and you can then browse and copy image as if it was just another drive.

If you prefer to download directly off the camera you will need two things, a USB-A to Mini B cable(very common cable, try any electronics/computer store) and some drivers. The driver you require depends on what computer and operating system you use.(eg Macintosh/PC and Windows 2000/XP/Vista). Once you know this you can download the driver from the Canon website. They also have use manuals for you to download too if you wish to learn a little more about the camera.

Cannot transfer pictures to computer.

Are you connecting the camera to the PC with a USB Cable?? Some cables only contain wires for charging the device, while others contain the cables for data reading as well. If your cable is not the one supplied with the camera, it might not contain the wires to support data transfer (or might be pinned out slightly differently).

1. Use the USB cable that came with the camera or go to solution 2.

2. Remove the memory card and insert it into a reader that connects to your computer. I prefer to do all my pics this way because the computer thinks it's just another portible storage device and you can do everything through windows explorer. You can get a reader from lots of places, like newegg, tiger direct or walmart for well under $20, and they can read many different kinds of cards. If you take lots of pics, this would be the way to go because you can then pick up another memory card and just swap out the card if the first one gets full... kinda like replacing the film until you get time to download the information to your computer.

Hope that helps. Please rate accordingly.

A couple of questions that will come into play if you need additional assistance--

What version of the operating system is running on the computer you are downloading to?

If it is not Windows 98 or Windows 98 SE --

Did you look in my computer to see if the contents of the camera appear as a disk where files can be copied onto you PC just like any other disk file can be copied?

If you or your son are familiar with memory sticks the camera appears to acts as like a USB memory stick when both are powered on and subsequently connected to a PC with a USB cable.

Yes, the CB-USB4 cable (item # 200776) is required to download images directly from the camera. Replacement cables can be purchased through the Olympus Emporium.
