You have to configure your wireless modem (wep/wpa) so that your laptop can connect to the internet. the reason why you cannot connect in the internet thru wireless is that the connection between the modem and the laptop has not been established. so, try to establish the connection between your laptop and the modem.

Have inherited Acer Aspire one netbook. It says that it is now wireless connected but when i press browser nothing happens. Should this have something like internet explorer like my normal computer.

The Acer Aspire One comes with an edition of Windows 7 pre-installed. If that is the current operating system that it has now, then you should have Internet Explorer; it comes with every recent edition of Windows, and is very difficult to uninstall. To see if you have Internet Explorer (with Windows 7), open windows explorer and navigate to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\" If you do not see "Program Files (x86)", then look for just "Program Files". There should be an application called "iexplore.exe" Double click on that, and see if it opens.

I can't get the passphrase box to come up when connecting to the internet, so I think the connection is not secure. The router is a Netgear WGR614v10 wireless.

It requires setup. Did you do anything to it when you first installed it? By default, open internet explorer and go to 192.168.1.1 (just type that in the address bar). If the login comes up, use admin and password. If it opens up the Netgear control panel, start by going to Wireless Settings and change your security options. Just before you finish, also change the router's password to something other than "password".

Linksys wireless connected to router, signal fine, no web pages

First thing i would try is power cycling your equipment. Unplug the router and the Modem-
Plug the modem in first and once all the lights come on- plug in your router- then restart your computer.

I cannot access my wireless network. Router= WBR-2310 D-Link

The first thing to try is a power cylcle. Switch the router off for 2 minutes and then back on again. See whether the connection comes back up.

If this doesn't work, you will need to connect to the router with an ethernet cable and browse to its management interface through internet explorer to see what is going on.

To do this you will need to know the IP address of the router & the username / password to login..

you can get the IP address by using the following steps.

1. go to Start -> Run type cmd and go ok.
2. at the flashing prompt type ipconfig /all
3. You will get a bunch of information. You are looking for the set of numbers next to "default gateway"

Type this number in to internet explorer. eg. http://192.168.1.1

This will get you to the management interface of your router where you will be prompted for your username / password.

Cannot connected to the internet

The Netgear Wireless Access point needs a wireline adapter to ethernet that plugs in to your home router. There is no homeplug light on your router, and no way to connect to the Internet. You need a Netgear Xe-102 or equivelent
