Your time needs set on your answering machine. If you have buttons on the top of your base, press and hold the day/check button to set the day of the week. Press and hold the hour button to set the hour. Press and hold the min button to set the min. If you don't have buttons on base, press flash button on handset to enter answerer remote mode. Press the 8 key to enter time set menu. Set hour and min using number buttons and set am / pm using caller id buttons. Press # pause to confirm the setting.

The flashing CL means the clock on the phone has not been set. You can try to set the clock using the Menu option on the handset, but the easier option is to simply call the phone from another number. When this happens, the base of the phone gets a CID time and date stamp from the time calling, and the clock is set. You'll notice that the CL is no longer flashing after the phone has received the call. You don't even have to answer the phone- just let it ring once or twice and you're all aces.
