Always save a basic drive image to Optical media ie:> DVD-ROM you will thank me

Most New Laptops will come with a Factory Default image that will be hidden but can be accessed during the Boot stage by pressing a certain key combination like ALT + F10 or CTRL + F10 of it will have a firmware software like PC Angel LE like on the Evesham Laptops which will revert your Laptop back to how you bought it.

With Desktops this is not always the case and to prevent almost a days work fulling installing your PC back to a basic setting it is a good idea to create a drive image with the DOS and the latest service packs; plus latest hotfixes; microsoft office; printer drivers; web browsers + addons; Java; Flash and Shockwave, (you can go on forever well upto 4.2GB anyway)

These will easily fit on a single DVD-ROM (4.7GB) optical disc I suggest that you use Norton Ghost v14.0 it will take about 20mins to create and about the same to reload your PC with the image.

You will of course require a DVD Burner either ATAPI or USB if you use Norton Ghost you can also undertake a pre-boot Antivirus scan, I have created this script to allow you to create an uptodate Virus Defintions CD

Heres how it works unxzip the archive to your C: drive then run the getdefs32.bat first then put a CD-RW into your drive then run makecd4defs32.bat this will create an ISO then burn then latest Defintions to your CD use this by browsing for you D: drive after you have booted with your Ghost v12.0 or v14.0 boot CD and selected the antivirus scan option.

I created this as I got fed up of installing NAV2008 onto my PC while I was running McAfee from Sky just to update my Ghost v12.0 CD.

Hope you all like it .....join me at the on facebook for more of the same.

P.S You might have to run scanbusit.bat the mkisofs.bat is set to 1.0.0 you might need to change the line in the makecd4defs32.bat to asuit your system setup.

cdrecord speed=0 -dev=1,0,0 -dao -v VirusDef.iso

Shown here is the result for my system my Philips DVD burner is located at scsibus1 so my dev=1,0,0 this will need changing ONLY ONCE if your ISO will not burn as it can't find the drive.

I have an Evesham Ebox and the motherboard has failed. It's details are; K9mgm-2 ms-7252 version 1.2. Do you know if it is possible to buy a replacement? Thanks

It does not appear as if that motherboard is still available for purchase. The only thing I can tell you to do is contact that Manufacturer directly and see if they can replace it. This will likely be very expensive though.

Dear sir\ma, I have toshiba satellite u300 which i want to upgrade to ultimate but after i download window advisor it told me that my computer does not have a DVD drive, which i need to download.pls help...

May be, that advisor made a mistake. DVD drive is required to setup the operating system from the dvd. As you said, toshiba satellite u300 has a dvd writer. that can surely read dvd. Please ignore that message if you can play dvd on your laptop.

Bad hard drive back up and replace on evesham ebox

The only thing I can think of is you might hook up the drive as "slave" drive on a working computer and see if it will operate long enough to retrieve your data. But if the drive is dead you may have lost everything that was on it. There are services that do data recovery on dead hard drives but I'm sure it is expensive to have this done. This is why I always back up everything I do to a different device while I am working.

I have got a Blue screen with an error 0X0000c1f5 on my evesham laptop. please can someone tell me how i get this off as i cannot do anything on my laptop. Many thanks in advance

Make sure, you are not running any software which is not supported with your Laptop Hardware. If this problem is not for a particular Software, then try changing your RAM first. And tell me if it works.

Cannot locate access to memory slots in order to upgrade RAM on Evesham Voyager 64 laptop.

The Voyager would have been even faster with more than the supplied 512MB of memory - you can't upgrade this yourself, but Evesham will supply 1GB as standard for an extra £89. with the limmitted memory capacity, i would definitely turn off all unused open programs and services you dont need in windows. you may do this and realize you don't need more memory.

Evesham quest a240 looses the clock settings when switched off

Needs a new bios battery. Mine lasted 6 months before giving up. However you can leave the laptop plugged into the mains power when computer is switched off and the date/time will be kept. Otherwise change the bios battery or reset the time each time you use it. I phone Evesham and they said that the bios battery is soldered to the chassis on this model and so would need to be returned to the factory for this to be replaced. Since Evesham are now defunct you would need to get a PC repair shop to replace the battery. Is easy to do.

ATAPI DVD A DH16A1L not reading blank dvd's

This is a firmware issue that I am also having the same problem with. The only real solution is to purchase a new drive temporarily, since the DH16A1L firmware update is precariously a "Vista Only" update. If you have XP or Windows 7, you are SOL, thanks to the lovely folks at HP.

This was my business' last purchase of any HP hardware, we have had enough of the fried laptop mobos and issues as such. I hope everyone follows suit
