Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista SP1 32bit) Can't sync with my IPAQ HX2490b

Windows Mobile Device Center is supposed to detect PPC's automatically. I plugged in my Ipaq 2490b, it says installing drivers, then finishes says drivers installed for Unidentified Device.

I've changed the usb sync to RNDIS and also tried USB Serial Sync Mode either one would not work.

I have the same problem (samsung i760) AND found others too! NOW here is the kicker -- I and others have actually succesfully made instalation and connection...and for no apparent reason....it stops working. I and others are moderate above average technically speaking, so this is not a stupid problem, but a VERY bad bug and MS is NOT responding.

I have the same problem, windows says it is installing the drivers, then listgs my ipaq hx2795b as an "unidentified device" in conjunction w/ message "searching preconfigured driver folders", and nothing more happens. I DID find an iPaq listing under Device Drivers, but couldn't get it to do anything at all.

I was having same problem with my Samsung i600. I installed Update for Windows Mobile for PC (KB949168) and now it wrks fine. Strange this was only supposed to fix some daylight saving time issues!

Ok. I have a samsung i760 and found others with mainstream, new pda's. This is NOT a problem with the device, it is one of Windows Mobile Device Center.

I have found others to get the exact same resulst, it says (in the same window) "Device ready to use" yet below says that it is searching for drivers.

ALSO, I and others have installed the furst time, and comunication is established...yet for some reason ...it just STOPS! So, I and those I have found are moderate to above average in computer skills, this is a big problem.

I cannot access windows vista to sync with my hp 6310 ipaq

Greetings - I'm going to guess that perhaps you installed Activesync 4.5, For Vista or Windows 7 you have to install Windows Mobile Device Center which is available HERE.

If you are using mobile device center that isn't the problem and Microsoft has a dedicated section of their website dedicated to solutions syncing Windows Mobile device with Vista, way too much for me to go over here. There's a great deal of trouble shooting information about sync problems HERE.

Thanks for using Fix Ya

Window Vista syncronizing with iPAQ 3835 problem

In order to sync any iPAQ with Windows Vista, you will need to download and install Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx.

Activesync will only work for XP Operating Systems and earlier.
Notes
  • To find out whether your version of Windows Vista or Windows 7 is 32-bit or 64-bit, click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties. The version is listed after System Type.
  • You can use Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 only with phones running Windows Mobile 2003 or later. ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center won’t work with Windows Embedded CE 4.2 or 5.0, Pocket PC 2002, or Smartphone 2002 devices. (To see which Windows Mobile operating system you’re using, and if your phone doesn’t have a touch screen, click Start > Settings > About. If your phone has a touch screen, click Start > Settings > System tab > About.) To sync content to any of these devices, you must use a USB or serial cable and your computer’s Internet connection and File Explorer.
  • You must use Microsoft Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003, or Office Outlook 2007 to sync your e-mail, contacts, tasks, and notes from your computer.
  • You must use a USB cable to connect your phone to your computer the first time you use Windows Mobile Device Center to sync.

Is a compaq ipaq h3835 compatable with vista

No, you do not need an upgrade. You'll need to be download only "Windows Mobile Device Center" to your Vista PC instead of ActiveSync. (ActiveSync is not compatible with Vista, instead Microsoft changed the software a bit called "Windows Mobile Device Center" and can be downloaded from Microsoft's website.) Your Vista PC should also recognize your ipaq PPC without needing any driver CD. I hope it helps.
