I have the same problem with an Olevia LT23HVX. Use LCD mainly as component connection to my cable provider's digital tuner for TV content. TV had been working fine for about 2 years, then it started behaving as others have described here. Finally, today I could not coax the TV to turn on no matter what I did. Went to FixYa and was delighted to find the two solutions suggested. Both of them worked for me. Butlersouth's solution does indeed appear to have "permanently" fixed the power-on problem. I think speculation about a "timer" circuit is correct (a built-in "feature" by Olevia???). I made a note on the back of the TV on Butlersouth's discovery so I can perform it again if the timer triggers again down the road. Thanks everyone!!!! I'm so happy I don't have to ditch this puppy after such a short use period:-)

I think this model has a timer on it, it seems to go when the warranty runs out, not proven but Mine went out about a month ago. My only fix is to plug my tv (via the service port which is COVERED) to the usb port on my computer using my BlackBerry usb cable, in other words the Mini USB. Seemingly I must be logged on to do so and wait for the Chime form my pc, a balloon will pop up for new hardware not recognized (vista) then press the power button and then it turns on, unplug the usb cable and make sure the source is set to tv / video or else it will power back off and you will have to start all over. Theres NOT A PERMANENT fix yet but this is what I do every time I want to use the TV, I have a laptop so I use it as the Monitor just to watch movies. If you have a desktop I recommend keeping the cable handy BUT DO NOT LEAVE THE USB CABLE IN FOR LONG USES. THE SERVICE PORT IS COVERED FOR A REASON!!!

Listen I had the problem. I turn the main power switch (on the side of the TV) off. Then while holding the VOL+ and the CH+ down turn the main power switch back on. This seems to reset something and the TV started to work,

Good Luck.

My olevia 42in not getting power is it the power supply thats going out sometime it turns on

Look at the power supply first; look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. Look for 5vdc, 12vdc, and 24dvc.

My Olevia 27in. LCD Television does not turn on

Well, at least the standby 5vdc circuit is still working but the problem can be in the controller board is not sending the signal to turn on the main power supply sections, or the power supply itself is bad. Look at the power supply first for burnt parts, bad capacitors.

Olevia 42 inch Flat Panel has power supply issue... Blue light does not come on and tv does not turn on... I have tried all different things to get tv to work with no positive results

What did you try so far? The main power supply MUST have at least the 5V standby supply section working. This 5v is used by the main control board to send out the command to turn on the main power supply section which will power up the rest of the TV circuits when the power switch is activated either by the power button of remote or on the TV powern button. Look for this 5v first.

I have 19" Olevia LCD TV and the red power light comes on when you plugged it in but the TV DOES NOT power on

You only have 5v standby voltage circuit working. The problem can be i nte main power supply or the main control board that send the signal to the main power supply to turn on. Those are the two place to look for.

Olevia 42"

Olevia LCD 542I - Had the same issue for a week until the tv would not turn on anymore, after several attempts it came back on. A few days later the tv turned off then only the standby light was on, then lost the standby light as well. After researching the problem it could be in two areas, either the power supply or main board. Removed the back and found the power supply had several capacitors that were bulging on the top and appeared the fluid was leaking, all signs of a failed part, removed the PS and replaced four capacitorst that had shown some issues. If you can removed the PS and check for a number on the board, mine was FSP271-4F02, and find someone who has some electronic circuit capablilty, the issue may be resolved at a fraction on the cost of a new power supply.

Olevia LT23 23in. LCD/TV

I had the same prob, but found out that the problem with the Olevia lcd tv's on most models not powering up is because of failure of capacitors on the power supply board that I do believe is due to excessive heat and lack of ventilation.

I took the tv apart and got access to the main board and just by looking at the capacitors I could tell which one were the bad ones..

I will show some pics that I borrowed during my repair, hope it helps as reference as it did to me.

I replaced the bad caps with new ones that I bought at a computer parts store.

Now I got my lcd tv back ON but this time I added a internal cooling fan for better air flow that will reduce this malfunction from happening again.

Hope this helps.
