I have the above problem almost every time I put in a game disk in my xbox 360. Usually after about 4 or 5 tries I hear the spinning sound and then it works ok. Its a continuous problem. Is this the hard drive going bad, the reader? any help?
It shouldnt be your harddrive, it should be more of an issue dealing with the cd drive. Do some research on google; look up your issue. If you have confirmed the problem, or are still confused, call Microsoft.( 1-800-4MY-XBOX)
They will prompt you on the problem, may be able to find a solution over the phone, but if they dont, you can send your 360 to them. If your console is still under warranty, than everything will be free.(including shipping) If you arent under warranty, you can do some research to see who can fix the problem for cheaper, but I would reccomend and trust microsoft the most since they are the manufacterer. (If they dont fix it they take it again and also give you 1 month free of xbox live).
