HP IPAQ 6925 PDA/phone - touchscreen quit working correctly. Did a master reset, but now unit is endlessly stuck in the Window mobile touchscreen alignment procedure.....???

Thanks for the try... I can't find a bios update specific to the 6925. The 6945 is supposed to work (according to another forum) but when I tried to do the update I got the "incompatible mode" error message...

  • brookstrace Apr 02, 2008

I don't think the touchscreen is dead... It still responds - the program just loops. I think the earlier suggestion of reflashing the bios might work, but there doesn't seem to be a bios update available.

1.) Go to the Master Index of BIOS, FIRMWARE, & DRIVER Updates,

2.) Select the appropriate hyperlink for your model.

3.) Download the most recent BIOS version SoftPAQ (SP) for your Model of iPAQ.

4.) Press the POWER + iTASK + CONTACTS + RESET buttons at the same time so as to enter the FLASH Mode

5.) Make sure your USB connection to the Cradle is hooked-up.

6.) Place your iPAQ in the USB Cradle.

7.) Stop the MS ActiveSync session on your HOST PC: CTRL-ALT-DELETE > TASK MANAGER > PROCESSES.

8.) Hilight WESCOMM.EXE and select "End Process" button.

9.) Run the file you downloaded from HP in step 3.

10.) The iPAQ should now begin Flashing the iPAQ's ROM BIOS.

This should work for most every iPAQ model, however, we cannot
guarantee this will succeed at restoring your iPAQ to a usable state.

Did you clean the screen?

Sounds like the touchscreen is dead. First I would reseat it's connector inside the phone. If that still doesn't work then I would replace the touchscreen.

You can get a replacement touchscreen from eBay or from webstores. I found these:

http://www.ipaqparts.com/ipaqpartshw6500.htm
http://www.ipaqrepair.co.uk/view_product.php?product=735

Looks like it will cost you about $100. If you are not comfortable opening it, any computer/laptop/electronics technician should be glad to open it up for you.

Good Luck!

HP Ipaq h1940 won't sync with Vista

Hi. While holding power button, and pressing reset will do a hard reset to your PDA (reset the device to its factory default settings). So if your PDA is working well, don't do it. As for the syncronization with your Vista PC; Winodws XP uses the ActiveSync software for syncronization, and for Windows Vista, Microsoft developed a brand new syncronization software called "Windows Mobile Device Center". It can be downloaded here: (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center-download.mspx). When you download/install this software to your PC, you should be able to connect your PDA to your PC without any problem, and definitely without changing any OS in your PDA or PC. Hope this helps.

PDA doesn't want to start

I think perhaps the ROM chip didn't take the flash correctly, I think this unit is possibly beyond repair. It looks like it is still trying to finish the upgrade. have you tried the reset while the unit is conneced to the PC which has the update?

The ipaq 6515 has a microswitch that will turn off the pda if the battery cover is removed. When you remove the cover and try to turn it on even with the external power supply plugged in, the red led will light up.

The Screen is back and it won't charge

Hello, it isn't that simple as a broken charger. Try the following thing. Connect battery to the PDA, check that the battery LID is connected FIRMLY to the body (there is a contact there that woun't allow the PDA to start if the lid isn't connected properly, you may want to check it too, look carefully for a small black thing and check that it can be pressed). Then connect the pda for half hour to the charger, even if no light or amber led is flashing. Then make a master reset as showed here and connect the PDA to a usb sync cable with your computer. Press simultaneous the soft reset and the power button, then press only the soft reset button. The PDA should start. If not, there is a problem with a DC converter component on the mainboard or the connector I was talking about before. Even if the charger is broken, your PDA should power on from USB cable. Good luck, feel free to ask further questions and always remember to rate replies received from this site :)

Does the ipaq 2215 work with Outlook 2002?

Active Sync will work with many version of outlook. Your PDA interfaces with Active Sync. Certain versions of Windows Mobile software and/or PDA's require higher versions of active sync to sync correctly.

Update to Window Mobile 5 and it should fix it. You would also need a GPS update from HP website for the PDA.
