You can switch the AM band tuning steps between 9 kHz and 10 kHz.

The initial setting is 9 kHz. Please set the AM tuning step frequency to match the AM band tuning step frequency in your area.

USA and Canadian models 10 kHz

Other models 9 kHz

Press MEMORY while holding down TUNER.
Note: All the preset stations are erased when you switch the AM band tuning steps.

I have a TX-8211 but I am out of town looking at Internet Radio tuners. Can you tell me what type of inputs are on the Onkyo? I know it has the black/red spring loaded wire inputs but are there other...

Your tuner will be the limiting factor regarding sound. The Onkyo accepts any stereo analog input via RCA connectors, period.

Those "black/red spring loaded wire inputs" are speaker outputs and if you hook one of those to an innocent audio device's Line In connections you might kiss it all goodbye.

Onkyo T-4500 FM reception problem

I have the same tuner...yes the fm and am frequencies are different there than north america...check to see if you have the "worldwide" model...there is a small switch under a small hole underneath the tuner to select the region for where it is to be used. If its not the worldwide model then i think your outta luck.

sometimes with cable, satellite, or any dvr, the digital signal actually is intermittent and there is little we can do about it but add an analog audio connection for each device as a backup. per se, and put the receiver in auto input mode. the receiver will utilize the analog signal to fill in where the digital signal fails
good luck

Connect the receiver to a Samsung LN32A450 TV?

I have a model LN32A330 which is probably has connections similar to yours. I'm not home right now to check whether it has a digital output, but I know for sure it has an analog audio output available. You can run that output to an available auxiliary or a/v source input on the receiver and that will work for you. That's how I have mine connected. If the set has a digital output and the receiver offers digital inputs, that's another connection possibility. The digital output on some brands of TV only works in conjunction with the tuner, and may not always have output. The analog method is guaranteed to work.

If this solution has helped get you on the way, please take a moment to give it a fixya rating. Thanks for asking here!

I have 1 1959 zenith stereo and the tuner needs repaired, i have it apart. and there is a broken string on the end of a small metal spring, how do i put it on the tuner. i can turn the tuner wheel by hand,...

1......Use new dial cord, old dial cord becomes brittle and glazed over the years.

2....the tuning knob shaft should have 2 or 3 turns of the dial cord wrapped around it.

3....the tuning knob shaft should be clean.

4...if there are any small pulleys that the dial cord rides on for smooth operation, they should be clean and free turning.

The biggest things ( as you might have guessed ) are that everything that has the dial cord running over it should be clean and free to turn if necessary.

The little spring is there to keep tension on the cord, otherwise it would loosen once it streches with age.

If you need dial cord, I believe Sony still has some. You may need to contact the Sony parts distributor for your country, but I firmly believe that it is still available.

Good luck......Rob
