On the first one, could be some loose connection- On the second problem, could be your CPU/Power Board bad. Contact SAECO customer service and ask for wiring diagram- need to check all wiring to ensure that you are getting power to all crucial connections ( from power filter, on/off switch, brewing boiler, thermostat, and CPU.) . Contact Saeco USA Inc. at 800-933-7876 (toll-free), ask for customer support, or contact SAECO via e-mail at : outlet@saeco-usa.com

Why wont it switch on?

Check the 2-pole circuit breaker on the left side. You have to remove the back by removing 2 screws. Use a multimeter, test for continuity over both poles.

My ~8 year old Gaggia Titanium Plus was dead one morning.
I checked the circuit breaker and one of the two poles were bad.
I replaced the C.B. and all was fine :-)

Swapping a new boiler as old one stopped heating, I checked both fuses and they were ok

Check the elements, there are 2 on the steam boiler, if 1 is open then that stops them. If your boiler comes complete that's fine, if you just get the element part then you must replace all the seals. I replace the seals on a new boiler anyway, originals are silicone and I upgrade to viton seals. Large one at the bottom, 3 small ones on side of base and one finger sized one at top steam pipe. Check switches for operation, sometimes they stick, if CRC does not fix them then replace. Make sure steam tap shuts off properly. The group head seal goes hard over time, replace while you are working on it if it is. Check thermostat has continuity when cold, on the side at the back of the boiler.

My brew unit is in place with the door shut, and the motor unit sounds to be intact. however, my light (29) is fixed "red" indicating my brew unit is incorrectly placed. any suggestions?

There are three microswitches that govern the fixed red light. Each has a plastic actuator on the piece it monitors. The dreg drawer and catch basin one is low and centered. This is a simple direct-pressure actuator and you can push it with a small screwdriver to ensure it gives a definite click when closed This checks the mechanical side of the switch - the electrical side requires disassembly of the machine and a continuity tester. The brew group switch is centered high and is actuated by the moving flag on the back side of the brew group. (Ensure this flag is up and the microswitch actuator is angled down inside its slot. The flag must engage and push the actuator to the right in order to close the contact.) The door switch is high on the left side and, like the dreg drawer, can be checked mechanically by inserting a screwdriver to elicit the click as it engages. You can check the electrical side of all three switches by using a screwdriver to engage each of the three actuators - if they all close, the red light (29) should go out.

After cleaning my solis, the machine wont switch back on. i've checked power supply and made sure the service door is closed.

Hi
On Master 5000's there is either a fuse or reset button on the back side of the boiler. The fuse is under a clamp on the side. The reset button is between the 2 black wires (white terminals) on the back of the boiler (front of the boiler is towards the front of the machine). If you machine is 2004 or older then you might have a fuse (they made the switch in 2004).

I can't get past the 'open tap'/'close tap prompts on my Impressa

I had this problem with my Ena 3. The difference was that water was actually passing through the nozzle, but when I turned the dial back to the coffee symbol it would just tell me to open the tap again.

The solution was simple thanks to bergend's post, although I'd never have thought of it independently. I emptied the water tank and filled it back up with luke warm water instead of the cold water I had been using. After the first "system filling" round, the machine continued with the setup program fine.

So, to others with this problem: don't use too cold water in the tank for the first setup, even though the manual tells you to. Luke warm works great.

Opened the grounds cup while machine powering on, now it's blocked

Here's the deal.

1. As you've probably learned by now, don't take anything from teh machine when its powering up and even when its going threw a brew cycle.

Here's whats happened, There's a set of microswitches that connect to the main board on the unit. One of the switches is triggered by the grounds cup.

When one of the switches is set off the unit goes into alarm and locks down.

Now to your problem. When the machine starts up its just like a brew cycle. The machine goes threw a Test mode of sorts where its checking the brew drive.

Once you pulled the ground cup, i'm almost 100% positive (its a common problem) that you set the alarm off mid cycle and jammed the brew group in place.

Since the brew group switch and the ground cup switch are so close together, it basically jams them both per say.

So basically unjam the brew drive to its original position is the only way to fix the problem.

Option 1: 2 tiny screw drivers. Turn the machine on. By the brew drive there's should be 2 holes where there's little metal clips stick out. When you press them with the screw drivers, the machine will trigger the brew drive back to the original settings.

Option 2: Flat head screw driver. where the grounds cup is there should be a little slice on the machine. turn machine on. place screwdriver there, brew drive should go threw test and then back to original position. Once everything stops, you should be good to go.

Option 3: Sent out for service. Worst case scenario.

Don't use alot of pressure as these pieces are all aluminum and plastic.

Wish ya the best of luck.
