Presairo V5000 notebook will not boot

Not able to boot up. Using F8 to get into safe mode. Scroll to safe mode and hit enter. Goes through the steps but keeps repeating the same procedure and going right back to safe mode. Did download new Norton Anti Virus software before the issue happened. Any suggestions?

I am not able to get into Windows o/s at all. The systems keeps going from the Compaq screen right to the following.

    Here is the error message:

We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.

If a previous start up attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because teh Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.

    Safe Mode
    Safe Mode with Networking
    Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)

    Start Windows Normally

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice

I am trying to get into the Windows O/S sign on screen and I am not able to do it from the safe mode either, because it keeps coming back to the message noted. HELP??

Try this, get a boot able CD copy of RIPLINUX 6.2 nonX. Go into your Compact bios and select CDROM as the first boot device. Open cd dvd player and install 6.2 Power down and then power up to 6.2 Install GRUB and select HARD DRIVE Partition #2 from the menu and wait.

Now here is what will happen. GRUB will load and execute drive partition #2 which contains the original factory install for your Compact V5000T. Warning!!!! You will lose any customized programs that where added after you bought your computer (goes back to factory default operating system) by reformatting #1 partition. There are utilities that can retrive the contents of a formatted partition, but this is beyond the limits of this topic. Use Google to search for those utilities. They are sometimes free.

I have my laptop stuck in safe mode. i checked safe boot by mistake, now why cant i get back to undo it?

Hi Steven-
Laptops should return to normal mode upon subsequent start-up. If it does not, when you (re)start your computer, begin tapping the F8 key repeatedly (like a woodpecker). After a few moments, this will bring up a manual start screen (white letters on a black background)-you will see an option to Start Using Windows Normally down toward the bottom of the screen. Using your arrow keys, scroll down to that choice and hit ENTER. Your PC will then boot up in regular mode.

Video display light does not work

Hello,

Go to safe mode and observe the problem from there.

Here's what you can do to boot to safe mode.

Restart your computer and tap F8. Use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode and hit enter.

When you are in safe mode observe it. Let me know if it goes black.

Let me know if it losses power or just the screen that goes black and power are on. You will know that by looking at the power indicator in the computer.

Hi

Try pressing the power up key and the F8 key at the same time
this should take you into the repair options
then choose back to last known good configuration
hopefully that may help

and i think to reset back to factory settings is restart pressing alt+f10

good luck

Laptop turns on, but won't boot up. Happened after son deleted limewire.

First of all, restore your system to previous state booting from the Safe Mode. To enter safe Mode, press F8 several times while the system boots up. You'll see a dark screen with white text. There you can select "Safe Mode" using you up-down keys and Hit Enter to select. After it is booted, restore, to do this, Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore and then select a date when it was working fine. If this doesn't work, please run a virus scan using an updated antivirus. You can also run a registry cleaning. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

When I turn on my computer it goes to either choosing safe mode,

There are many reason for a system goes to safe mode directly.here is the solution to solve the issue

Follow the steps:

Immediately begin tapping the "F8" key when the reboot sequence begins (make sure your "F Lock" key is activated.) Once the black "safe mode" screen appears, then first try selecting the option "Start Windows Normally" using your mouse or keyboard up and down keys. Allow Windows to boot, log into your profile and wait for the program to fully configure. Once that is completed, go to the "Start" button and select "reboot." If all is well, the "safe mode" will not reappear.

If that fails, then repeat the reboot sequence -- tapping the "F8" key repeatedly -- and when "safe mode" reappears, choose the "Last Known Good Configuration" selection and allow it to go through the same sequence as in the above paragraph.

If the above does not work and your system continues to first boot into "safe mode" it is possible that a setting in the boot configuration file is checked.

For that go to start -> RUN and Type in "msconfig" in the provided box and hit "enter." The "System Configuration Utility" will appear. Using your mouse or right arrow key, select the "BOOT.INI" tab. Look for the "boot options" section and the "SAFEBOOT" selection box. If it is checked, uncheck it, select the "Apply" button and then "OK."
Go to the "Start" button and select "reboot" and your machine should now boot directly into Windows.

The computer won't boot up. When I hit the power

For that when you power up the computer press F8 key untill you see windows logo then enter in "Enable vga mode" then go to display property and set screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
If still same issue then enter in safe mode then uninstall graphic driver and reinstall.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

When i go to 2) advanced option wat to do next/...please tell me

The system restore is not in BIOS, As the computer boots begin tapping the F8 key until you enter the boot selection screen, once you are there using your arrow keys scroll up to "safe mode" and hit the enter key, Hopefully if you enter safe mode then you can attempt a system restore... Only other option that I can see is to remove the HDD and hook it to another computer so that you can run a scandisk...

After booting process done. Screen goes blank and Keyboard not working only Mouse cursor is dispaly and working on the blank screen in My acer Laptop.

Try booting the system to Safe mode.

To boot to safe mode:

Restart the computer. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, F8 key on your keyboard. When Windows Options menu appears, scroll to select the Safe mode menu item, and then press Enter.

Select "Last known good configuration" then press Enter.

If that doesn't work reboot again and keep tapping on F8 to Safe Mode and instead of selecting "last known good configuration" select "Repair Your Computer"

Or you can try this:
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";}
  1. Place your Windows XP set up disk in your CD drive.
  2. Turn off your computer and change your BOOT order to boot from CDs first.
  3. Turn your computer back on.
  4. Press any key on your keyboard when it asks you to.
  5. Press enter when you see a blue screen, one of the options should say, "To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.".
  6. Press enter to start the windows set up.
  7. Accept the Licence and Agreement and confirm that the setup is searching for current versions on XP.
  8. Press "R" when the set up has found your current version of XP.
  9. Notice that the Set up is deleting all your windows xp files and replacing them. (This will not cause loss of data)
