I'm assuming that your drive D:\ is your disk drive. Right-click My Computer and select Manage. On the left select Device Manager and check to see if the DVD/CD-ROM Drives category is listed on the right. Expand the tree with the "+" and see if your drive is listed there. Make note of any yellow question mark icons there or anywhere else in the list.

After doing what rick suggests, right click d:/ and click update driver if it says something about driver; remove and reinsert drive if it says anything else

Bootmgr is missing

There are a number of possible causes for BOOTMGR errors, including the most common "BOOTMGR is missing" error message.

The most common reasons for BOOTMGR errors include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors an outdated BIOS and damaged or loose IDE cables

Anothe reason you might see BOOTMGR errors is if your PC is trying to boott from a hard drive or flash drive that is not properly configured to be booted from. In other words, it's trying to boot from a
non-bootable source.

This also would apply to media on an optical drive or floppy drive that you're trying to boot from.

make sure there are no disks in cd floppy usb drives

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE)) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

if its a flat ribbon 40 pin IDE it will be the fist to fail

make sure all power and data leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs

data and power to travel through every working device and to continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

also make sure you have set it boot from you hard drive in BIOS

hope this helps

PC will not boot, BOOTMGR is missing. What do I need to do?

I assume it's Windows 7.
Check that the BIOS is set to boot from CD/DVD as the first boot device and then put the Windows installation disk into the drive. If done correctly then the PC should boot from the CD/DVD and then just follow the on screen instructions (follow the instructions and select the repair option).

How to instal new hd advent 7070

You should be able to get into the BIOS or Setup without a hard drive. Power on the machine and notice what function key it tells you to hit to get into the bios or setup.

Most laptops have a cover on the bottom that once removed, the hard drive goes there. Normally you will see 3 circular discs that represent the hard drive. You'll need to know whether your drive needs an IDE or SATA hard drive. Laptop hard drives are 2.5 inches or just ask for a laptop hard drive. Since the drive is missing the caddy that holds the drive in place might be missing too. And some laptops be it IDE or SATA uses an interface that sticks on the drive too. I think you need the help of a professional. I'd say you're looking to spend $80 - $125 just on parts depending on what is missing and needed.

Ntldr is missing.... when i start my computer, it only shows NTLDR is missing press ctrl+Alt+Del to restart (this is on windows XP) please help... thanks

First check to see if you have a floppy disk in your floppy drive, if so remove it.
Second check if you have a CD disk in the CD/DVD drive, if so remove it.
If there are no disc in the drives, then the ntldr file is missing or corrupted and needs to be replaced. Please follow these instructions :-
