Same thing! The charger port was defective from the beginning, but I figured it was just a fluke I could deal with. Each time I attached the charger to the phone the connection between the two was so loose that the charger's cord would fall out of the port... over and over and over.

After a while the entire port just died. The phone won't charge on the car charger either. Took it to Verizon who said, "Ooops, you're not under warranty. We'll fix it for $50.00."

There are so many people who have this same type of problem that it's obviously a manufacturing defect. Maybe we need a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT?

SAME PROBLEM!!! This is my 3rd. phone (I had the warranty, so the phone was replaced twice without cost). I was especially careful when attaching my phone to the charger, so it has to be a defect in the phone. LG should recall these phones!

I had the same problem and am now on my 4th enV phone..my contract isnt up til august so i dont know what to do

    charger port became loose suddenly,
then came out with the charger,
    so i smashed the phone.

On my 4th Envy also. New one in Feb, Aug, Sept & November! Verizon wont let me get a different phone because I am not eligible for an upgrade yet! I asked to try a lesser but different model phone just so I wouldnt have to keep going back to get a replacement but they wont do that either!

  • easthigh76 Dec 02, 2008

Same broken port problem on now my daughter's second Envy. Verizon says tough toenails - can't upgrade until April and phone is dead. I opened it up and found that the wires connecting the port are hair thin so big surprise that they break off. This is a terrible design and should be recalled by LG. Looks like the best solution is to solder small wires to the board where the port broke off and do as the one bloke suggested and attach charger with alligator clips to charge the battery -- at least till April! Nothing to lose since Verizon won't repair and it's useless otherwise. Hope you gals are handy with a soldering iron. Two thumbs down for LG and Verizon.

My daughter's LG enV VX9900 had the same problem. We are on our 3rd one. Went back today to a different Verizon location we happen to be near. After having the 3rd one only a couple months and were told we were out of warranty and could pay the $50 deductible on the insurance and they would probably upgrade us to an enV2 or I could renew my contract early and get her a new phone. Why should I have to sign up for a new 2 year agreement when this is obviously faulty equipment. After the first one (that they said was she mistreated) she was extra careful and this is how we get paid back. I was hoping to at least make it until the renewal date. Now if I renew I don't get the $50 extra towards a phone, etc.... It is just upsetting that because we unknowingly bought defective phones we are the ones having to pay for their manufacturing mistakes. I agree that a class action suit is warranted unless they recall and replace all these phones. I am going the original store we started with and really complain about the phone and maybe I can get them to give her a different kind of phone completely. Wish me luck.

I've gone through about 5 of these envy phones and they ****! And each time the Verizon workers try to tell me it's my fault for not being careful.Seriously, come on they need to recall all the Envy 2 phones asap!

Go to www.factorydirectcellular.com. They sell a battery charger that doesn't require the battery to be attached to the phone. This will work for the LG EnV phone. $17.00 + $3.95 shipping. Case closed.

It is better way if you have warranty then make use of it ...

if not if you are good at opening then open it and just have a look near port ... if you have the broken piece join it by soldering...

if you dont have that broken piece then just take two small wires an d carefully identify the positive and negative in the circuit board & solder it near the port which is used for charging and then cut the pin of the charger and connect the positive & negative correctly to those wires whenever you want to charge ....

else visit the technician he will replace if the spare part of it is available ..

this doesnot charge too much it is affordable so i suggest you to visit the technician....

I have the same problem and just left the Verizon store today after receiving my 4th LG ENV 9900, I was told that I need to learn how to charge a phone and trust me the representative tried to encourage me to do an early upgrade and I told them no because I had already paid $50 to have the phone repaired the first time around. Why should I keep having to be out of money when surely this is not my fault at all. This is ridiculous. All of us need to file a class action suit against LG because they know this phone is defected and they refuse to do anything about it.

Soldering a charger port is not something just anyone can do. The pins are very small i suggest a microscope , a good quality pencil soldering gun and some steady hands.

The charging port has broken off the main circuit board.

You will need to have it repaired by your service provider.

There is no other way to charge it.

Thanks!

LG VX9900 IT WILL NOT CHARGE I THINK THE CHARGING

Hello
Before you conclude that its the charging port i think you need to test another compartible charger and see if it works or you could open your phone with a phone screwdriver and dust the charging port and try it if it works. If it doesn't work then you would need to replace the charging port.Temporarily you can use a desktop charger to charge your batterywhile the port is being replace.
GOODLUCK

Have a vx9900 that has a broken charger port how difficult to fix

Hello

The port shouldnt be too difficult to fix as long as you give it to an expert to fix for you, but it might just be a bit expensive to fix because the parts might be scarce.

Cheers

Bad Cell Phone Charger connection

If you go onto Ebay, you can get something called a universal cell phone charger. This plugs into the wall and charges the battery directly, rather than using the phone port. They cost between one and three dollars. I had the same problem and was told to do this and it works very, very well. Good luck!

Broken charger port

i have the same problem with my enV my friend stripped the wires to my charger at the part where you plug it into the phone so now to charge my phone i tape the red wire to the positive on the battery and the black wire to the negitive there will be a shiny metal goldish color thing (there like 4 lil gold bars) on your battery that looks like this --> (negative) | | | | (positive) | - | | | + | tape the wires on the outside were the symbols are - and + and try not to let it toch the middle bars on the battery or it wont work and dont cover the little bars up with tape put the battery back in the phone making sure the wires dont move to much and it should charge sometimes you got tape the battery onto the phone to make sure it doesnt pop out but its what i do and it saves you money on having to go buy a whole new one or if you know someone with the same phone give them your battery to charge it :)

Env help plz

The reason the phone won't charge is because the internal power port pins are broken off of their solder joints to the main board inside the phone. Wiggling it helps at first because the pins can still touch their connection points but after a short time that will cease to help. Google "cell phone repair". It usually cost around $50 to get it fixed with a new power port installed. Turn-around is usually 2-3 days.

Charger port problem

iT'S little cheesy but hey for $10 and free shipping I can eat a lot of cheese.

Just plug your battery into this little clugy thing, plug the thing into the wall, wait until battery is charged and then put your battery back into your phone...presto...for this kind of money who cares if the VX9900 has a dead battery charge port.

I bought two, they were on sale for $7 each. It's ugly and takes a bit of patience but it works.
