Take it to the shop or buy a good used machine from local dealer.
To repair it it has to be taken apart, the front cover must come off and if you are not experienced at this you will either break it or think you are breaking it

Machine stopped sewing even though it sounds like its running

I would suggest taking the machine to be checked to see if the machine has a broken part or jumped time.

How do i check for correct timing

this model tends to slip timing quite easy....its about .75 of an hour to fix....a dealer would be the one to look to make sure. But 2.4 mm from bottom dead center to having the hook even with the needle is the correct timing on straight sew

I have a sew easy SM 1000 sewing machine and am having problems threading it. I do not have a manual. Please help.

same problem, found the issue and can't fix. When I took the bottom of the machine off, I quickly found the "Lug Belt" BADLY worn and broken. Making the timing slip and thus making the top line not get caught on the bottom line. Can't find the lug belt for this machine online

When I start to sew the thread keeps coming out of the take up lever on my Singer 2732

you might try taking a pair of pliers & gently closing the gap in the thread take up lever, I had the same problem in my mechanical sewing machine & that's what it took to fix it, the thread doesn't slip off any more when I'm sewing.

My daughter lives in Mexico and is having a problem with her machine. She is sewing heavy fabric; the machine made 3 beeps and now only sews in reverse. Before you had to really push the reverse button,...

I would try calling Singer at 1-800-4singer, and ask them. With her being in Mexico may not be easy getting service. She could try putting in a heavier needle and see if it helps, oiling and cleaning too. I am just hoping it is not her timing, is it still under warranty? Her manual is available for free online at to download. Good luck

Fixing my Brother sewing machine

Hi teranm...If it is indeed a timing issue, you should use a technician to correct it. If your "someone" continues to "look at it", and begins to understand the timing process, and discovers how readily accessible the Set Screws are, they may want to chance it. But what they will not perceive until it's too late, is that on Oscillating Hooks, such as what you have, once you loosen the set screws on the Hook, you now have a Distance Issue to keep your Timing Issue company. The tolerance of distance is much more minute than timing tolerance....good luck my friend.
