Print cartridge "missing"--NOT

Our Xerox 7700 is giving a message that the Number 4 print cartridge is missing.

The cartridge is not missing.

The message appeared after a staff member replaced print cartridge number 2.

Any suggestions for fixing this?

All of the sudden my xerox 7700 wont recognise print cartridge 3. It was replaced only one month ago and I have only used approx. 500 prints so far, I have done my best to check everything you mentioned, but still have same problem. If I swap print cartridge two with three, two recognises, but three still does not? Thanks for any help you can offer, Anson Bentley

Hi,

In order to solve such a problem in your printer cartridge, you should take a flat blade jewelers' screwdriver along with a blade whose width is somewhat more extensive compared to the pads and place the blade side flat throughout the contact.

After that, drag the blade end throughout the contacts, from each direction, knocking down firmly with the flat.

You may experience blows as you traverse the pads.

It is to compel the ridges in the region of the holes back to the holes.

This procedure has proved to be of great help for most of the users who have experienced the "Print Cartridge Missing" error.

Xerox phaser 7700 having problems printing transparencies and accumulator belt problems

Hi xander4265:
I
Streaks in direction of paper travel
There are dark lines running along
the page in the direction of paper
travel from the leading edge to the
trailing edge (B-size print shown).
The printer displays no error code.
Note A-size prints are processed
through the printer with the short
edge of the print parallel to the
direction of the paper path --
making horizontal print artifacts
parallel to the shot edge of the
print.
B-size prints are processed
through the printer with the long
edge of the print parallel to the
paper path -- making horizontal
artifacts parallel to the long axis
of the print.
1. Check the end of life for each of
the consumables by printing the
supplies usage page. From the front panel’s Printable Pages Menu, select
Print Supplies Page.
2. Run the solid fill test pages; From the front panel’s Printable Pages Menu,
select Service Pages, then select Print Solid Fill Pages. If the missing bands
only occur in a single primary color, replace the print cartridge of the affected
color.
3. Swap print cartridges and run another test print.
Note Under some circumstances, streaking may occur in the margin of
SRA3-size paper. This is due to the edges of the paper extending
beyond the end of the imaging components. print-quality in the
margins of SRA3 paper is not guaranteed.
4. Inspect the Accumulator Belt cleaner; replace the cleaner, if necessary.
5. Run the Remove Print Smears routine. From the front panel’s Support Menu,
select Improve Print-Quality?, then select Remove Print Smears.
6. Replace the Developer Housing Assembly (RRP 27, on page 7-171).
7. Remove the print cartridge and (with a flashlight) check for debris along the
edge of the developer housing.

hope that this will help you.

There are several user diagnostic routenes you can run to clear things up. Best thing I can recommend is to go to the Xerox.com site. Click on support and drivers, when the search box comes up type in 7700 and follow to support area. You can search specifics there. It is a good site.

You most likely have a bad black developer housing.
You can try removing the waste bottle and using that bla\ck stick inside the cover to clean the laser ****.
But it sounds like the developer housing has failed.

Unit 11 laser polygon motor failure

Most likely, all the problems you are experiencing are being caused by a bad laser motor assembly. We can send you a motor assembly for the laser unit and you can change it out yourself, however, we will have to charge for the entire unit since it makes one laser unit worthless. You would save on shipping that way. Aligning the lasers is a little tricky, but doable. The manual can be downloaded at: www.lpscomputer.com/ec/Phaser_7700_Service_Manual.pdf
The parts can be ordered at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/p-3060-1-116-1110-00-laser-unit.aspx

Hi, I have the Xerox Phaser 7700GX. I have a scrolling message that says 'cartridge 1,2,3,4 is missing' and tray 4 is missing. I've tried troubleshooting through Xerox'x support site - where I've switched...

That really sounds like corrupted software
Go to Xerox.com
Click "support and drivers"
Enter "phaser 7700" then click the orange "search"
Then "drivers and downloads"
Scroll to "firmware update"
Download it and follow the instructions to load your printer software.
That should correct your problem.
