JUKI LK1900HS Broken machine

We currently have a computerized JUKI bartack and we had a needle break and now the presser foot is stuck in the down position. We have looked in the manual and cannot find any topic that covers this problem and are sort of in a dire situation as we are with a parachute team at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY and have equipment that needs repairs using a bartack.

Sounds like it was part way through a cycle when it stopped.
Remove the needle, turn the power off and try turning the machine through a cycle by hand. If that does not solve the problem do the same again with the power on.

Thread is breaking 8700

needle too small. cheap thread. needle not centered in slot of presser foot which will cause the thread to be sheared of when needle passes presser foot. burrs on hook under machine causesd by breaking needles. tilt machine and use emery paper to smooth hook. stroke in same direction as hook rotation. maybe too much top thread tension also.

Needle breaks a lot

Machine breaks needles
1.make sure you are using the right needle for your type of sewing machine.
Most machines can use generic Schmetz needles. There are cases where the machine will only use ones specified in the owners manual.
2.the presser foot may not be installed properly
3.use the correct needle for the type of fabric you are working with. To fine of needle on heavy fabric or to course a needle on silk or jersey can damage fabric.
4.let the feed dogs guide the fabric & the feed dogs will work with the presser foot .
5.the needle is not all the way in -push all the way up against the stop

Presser foot problem

Turn the handwheel so the needle is at the highest position and then turn the power off and then back on.

If this does not help, you will need to take the machine in for service.

Make sure you're using the correct foot for the stitch. Is this during sewing or embroidery? Take off the bobbin plate using the screwdriver and remove the bobbin. Make sure everything is clean under and around the shuttle. If you've ever broken a needle the tip might have fallen down into the mechanism and occasionally be jamming it.

Needle thread breaks while quilting on machine frame

My friend and I both have the Juki 98Q but on different frames - we were both having problems (needles breaking, thread getting tangled) we removed the thin metal thing inside the bobbin case and have had no problems since (over a year now!).
