Camera hitachi hdc-656E - how

Hi I'm also currently trying to sort this problem for a friend, one thing ive found so far is that if you leave it connected for 4 minutes vista does find the camera, but its 4 minutes every time. 

Well i got the hitachi HDC- 656E camera as a christmas present but unfortunately my Dell Vista computer refuses to recognise it when its plugged in. It dosnt just ignore the fact that its a camera but that there is anything attached to the F drive. If anyone can offer a solution that would be brilliant because alas i think the only other thing that i can do is to get a card reader to transfer the photos.

I have the same camera and same problem. I use Vista... Will be gratefull for any help
