From looking at the pictures of the problems. it look like I have a convergence issue. what type of cost are involved? Toshiba 65 inch.

Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.

Mitsubishi 65 in has greenish blue coloring mainly at bottom of screen any idea's?

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

65" Mitsubishi projection tv, my colors are not matching up.

If red or blue will not adjust in some direction--you have a Convergence circuit problem---

This model (WS-65809) uses two of the STK-392-570 Convergence IC's---

Green for a good reason is not adjustable in the customer mode---it is only adjusted for the Geometry or straightness of the picture and then red and blue are adjusted to it.

If you are able to do this repair yourself you can save the set and a lot of money---most shops charge 300-400 for this type of repair in this set.

You can buy both chips for about 14 dollars on Ebay- and I have step by step---start to finish instructions for this repair in this set--they tell also everything you will need to do and what you need.

If you want the instructions let me know---I am not allowed to post MY email here.....but you.....

Not everyone can do this repair---Let me know if you have any questions or need advice----

If you get someone else to do the repair make sure BOTH chips get replaced or the set will have the same problem again in a few months.

Convergence is off - Blue and Red are fine Green will not line up

On most units, the Green is constant and the Red and Blue are adjustable. Here are 2 links on how to manually adjust the convergence. There is a menu option using the remote control. Once there, you will find step by step procedure on how to adjust the convergence. Hope this helps answer your question. All the best!

Picture is distorted w/ aline on top and bottom

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com
