Ct-720 tape deck pioneer. only plays backwards and quick. speed adjust pot Works but motor doesn't have power and stops. plays in reverse and the playback rev control won't change play direction.

The tape speed is an indication of another problem. Probably the same as all other mechanisms of this type and that is dried up grease and parts that are not moving as they were designed to.
The deck needs to go to a Technician.

That complexity of the unit can not be repaired remotely. It needs to go to a Technician that is capable. Teac people that are still in the business are Russ at New Jersey Factory Service and Skywave Tape Deck repair in Chicago area. I am the Skywave guy.

These answers are amazing. And wrong. It is an open reel deck.
Older units do not work when let sit for a long time because the belts decay, liquify and fall off. The Pinch Roller linkage gets solid due to dried up grease. These older machine need immediate attention and I tell people to not even plug them in as you risk burning out a $150 capstan motor- I have seen it happen. The deck will need maintenance by an experienced Technician of these kinds of devices. So far as I know there is Only Russ in New Jersey (New Jersey Factory Service) and myself in Chicago (Skywave Tape Deck Repair). Both of us were top people who worked for Teac in the 80's as Technicians or managers. We are qualified and experience with these decks. There are other good Technicians out there but I am not aware of any in Florida. It is a Technician wasteland I am told. I get a lot of units from that state. The good news is that you have new heads on the unit that have no wear- they are worth money just by themselves. Get the unit fixed. That would be my opinion. I have worked on these for 40 years so far.

How to replace drive belts in a yamaha K500

It is a simple matter of getting the Service Manual, then obtaining the belt kit from Marrs Communications belt supplier and then determining how to get the belts into the mechanics of the deck,
If you are not a Tape Deck Technician, then this may seem like an insurmountable task as the transport need to come out or at least open access to it's rear to take of thrust plates and parts of the mechanism that is required to get the belts into the unit. As a Tape Technician of 40 some years, I can tell you that there may be other things in the deck that also need attention like tires on reel table or other idlers, other small belts not supplied in the kit and the oiling of the Flywheel and capstan bearing. If you JUST put belt in you are doing half a job and the deck still may not run at the correct speed. There is also technical equipment needed to set speed as well as test tapes. New belts almost always require that the speed is set to the reference standard of 3KHz or 3150Hz depending on what test tape you have. This kind of work can take over and hour and some machines depending on design can take two. Calibration is done to a deck by any of the good Technician I have worked with. This is currently my full time business so if you need my help, I am available.
I have a lot of belts in stock- I have been doing this for 40 years so far.

Kenwood tape deck no power

You can have a burned out transformer or a broken solder joint or even a bad switch. The resolution will come when an experience repair Technician looks at it to resolve the problem. The fix could be a fast one or you might need a part. It is hard to say without more detailed information.

Kx w4060 wiill not turn on when power button pressed no ready light showing

These dual plastic type cassette deck hardly warrant a service call due to their price and build but to correct this problem the unit needs to be seen by a Technician. The unit can have a lot of different things wrong with it from broken solder joints to defective or abuse tact switches. If you are asking this question, it means that you are not qualified to work on it yourself. Thus the need for a Service Technician.
I am in Chicago area and I work on decks all the time- if you supply a location I can tell you of other shops I know of.

Technics tape deck rs-eh600 wont play it just clicks

Another dual deck it seems- the unit will need service by a Technician, there is no magic that will make it work. It may be as little as a large belt. I would have to see the unit to tell you the exact cause.

No sound coming from tape dec, though tape is turning

First check the wires going to the tape heads make certain they are connecting. If good follow them and see if they go to any micro switches, if still no joy keep following the leads to the PC board. The best way to test is to poke around and see if you get any buzz on any of the pre-amp parts. Work back from the output sockets of the deck to where the head wires join. If you get a buzz after and not before you have located the faulty stage.
Don't touch the power supply parts!
