Question about Miele Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a Miele G570 dishwasher and the spinners don't appear to be turning properly. I have removed and cleaned the incoming water strainer, but still no better. The water supply pressure is the same as always. The unit goes through it's complete cycle but the dishes are still not clean. Can you help please?

Run a nice long hot "Pots and Pans" cycle every now and then.
Try calling the Miele Appliance Hotline 1-800-999-1360 when your in front of the machine.

the elements should not be red as this indicates a lack of water to cover the elements
that would account for the spinners not working as the pump will not be pumping water to make them spin
check the water level or call a technician to diagnose the problem properly and quote

The lower spray arm on my ASKO 1805 dishwasher has stopped turning, the dishes are still getting washed, so fluid still goes through the sytem, and drains at the end, the heater works. When turning, t

1) check the strainer. Not just the holey one you can see, but there might well be a very fine mesh filter under it ~ if so, remove it to clean it (it can appear clean, but still be clogged with transparent cellulose fibres). Try running the machine empty without the strainer/filter fitted. You should hear a difference if the filter was causing the problem.
2) you might have a weak impeller. After a while the plastic impeller on some machines just wears away, leaving insufficient fins to move the water, this can be accelerated by e.g. broken glass stuck in the pump. Impellers can also slip on the motor shaft; the motor's spinning but the impeller doesn't. This means removing the machine, turning it over and removing the pump for inspection...

My miele dishwasher model no G643V1 is not cleaning properly. Inlet/Outlet, Salt or Rinse aid lights not red. Contents all have gritty substance at bottom. Please help!

The problem is most likely that there is still water residue at the bottom of your machine. If the machine is not fully drained it picks up some of the residue and sprays that onto the dishes during the final rinse, leaving an unhealthy and unsightly film on everything.
Remove the bottom strainers plates and make sure that the outlet pipe is not kinked, that there is nothing obstructing the pipe or the pump or selector valve. If possible back flush through the outlet pipe and try draining the machine again before using it again.

Maytag model dwu9200aax pieces of plastic and cloth clog some of the rinse holes on the spinning rinse part..how to take apart rinse arm to clean it?

The top spinner part can simply be pulled off by grasping it near its hub and pulling downward. Push it back on and push in the locking clip in the center. The bottom spinner can be removed, First unscrew the center column. Hold the spinner with one hand, turn the base of the center column counter clockwise. Then lift column off. Then the spinner should lift off of the keyed white plastic base. Underneath it, on the neck off of which you lifted it, are two plastic washers that form a seal (supposedly). Good to clean these to make spinner rotate freely, but be careful not to break them taking them off. If you want to go farther in, there is the point of a strange shaped plastic nut sticking up into the base of the column. If you remove this, and the 6 torx screws holding the strainer cap, you can get it all out to clean it up (I had bits of plastic bag in the slots of a 4-armed thing that apparently sprays the filter screen), and scrub the washer in the bottom. Remarkably yucky down there in a 10 year old installation...

Insufficient water in the dishwasher for spinner arms to operate

If the machine functions properly when you add water, then it is likely there is a problem with the water supply. Start at the valve under the kitchen sink.
First I would turn that valve off and remove the water line. Then turn the valve on slowly. Use a small bucket or a large cup to catch the water. You should also have a lot of towels on hand.
If you are not getting much water through it, you may need to change that valve. If you are getting a good flow of water through it, inspect the water line checking for crimped or crushed parts. (is the line copper? braided steel?)
Reconnect the water line to the valve and disconnect it at the dishwasher. Now flush water through the line. how is the flow?
Lastly inspect the water inlet valve on the machine. I found a walkthrough for that at http://www.easyapplianceparts.com/repair.aspx?appliance=dishwasher&part=dishwasher-wont-fill
Actually, you might want to check that first. It may be as easy as cleaning a screen. I'm a plumber, not an appliance tech, so I tend to take a global approach to water supply.
Best of luck
Mike

HI
The strainer is located directly under the lower sprayer arm. When the strainer becomes clogged with food and detergent debris, the dishwasher may flood or overfill. On some dishwashers, the strainer is a plastic or metal component consisting of two semicircular halves. To remove this type of strainer, pry it up. On other dishwashers, the strainer is a one-piece component. To remove this type, remove the cap that holds the sprayer arm on its shaft. Then remove the sprayer arm and the strainer.

Wash the strainer in the kitchen sink with water and a mild household detergent. Use a fairly stiff brush to get all the debris out of the holes and slots in the strainer. Rinse the strainer well and replace it. If part of the strainer lifts out for regular cleaning, check it and clean it -- if necessary -- after each load of dishes is washed.

Fisher & Paykel drawer dishwasher will not drain properly

We had this problem. wqe had a small bone blocking off the drain tube a bit. Take all the parts on the inside of the draw out ie mesh rack, remove the strainer, steel plate and remove the spinner. Now get a small pipecleaner or brush and poke it up where the strainer inlet is. You will probably see it pock through the centre where the spinner is. Give it a go.

make certain that there is water coming into the d/w if so and you are sure that the solenoid on the water valve energizes then its possible that the strainer on the water valve might be clogged if so its going to take a bit of work to remove and clean the strainer and reasemble it are you confident .

This sounds like the overflow trip switch has been activated. Some time back I had this problem with a Miele G664. The service man undid 4 screws on the door and removed front panel and found water in the drip tray, He then checked the pipes, outlet pipe had a pice of plastic bread tag stuck in it , this was slowing down the time it took to empty the water and the next fill made it overflow and switch off the dishwasher. He cleaned out the chanel on the overflow that was full of dust and fluff checked the levels to make sure the dishwasher was sitting true. Closed it all up and ran the dishwasher. Perfect!

Bill $160. It did take him the best part of an hour and I live a long way out of town.
