I have an SP4805 and have a yellow shadow on the right edge of my screen only in 16:9 or letterbox mode. How does one remove the casing to get to the mirror? I removed all the screws but could still not get the case apart. I didn;t want to break it.

I had a similar problem on my Infocus SP4805. When ceiling mounted I had a shadow area on the lower right had of the screen. My color wheel then broke. I replaced the color wheel (contact projectordoctor.com) and the shadow still remained. So I cleaned the mirrors and lenses. I even attempted to clean the mirrors in the light tunnel, now the shadow is through out my image. I noticed what seemed to me an adhesive on the outside edges of the light tunnel mirrors had burned away (which may cause the yellowing). Are these mirrors available for replacement? Are they easy to align without having to send the projector in?

Such as this situation, you had better buy a new light tunnel for infocus sp4805,
generally, the manufacturer did not directly sell parts to end user, and always ask you send machine to customer service station. then applied for expensive service cost.

actually, you can find a reliable parts retailer, can get a cheap parts from them.
such as the infocus 4805 projector oringal light tunnel only cost USD79 with shipping to all over the world.

If the shadow is slightly visible it can be corrected by adjusting the mirror, but this is only a temporary solution because it's still a tunnel issue and by time one of the mirrors that forms the light tunnel would be pushed in further by the clip that holds it in place and it would be beyond adjusting.

Many people think they have a light tunnel issue if they begin to see yellow at the edge of thier image. there's a mirror inside that can be adjusted to correct the problem.

I have an InFocus ScreenPlay 4805. it only shows part of the picture. the rest of the screen have lines and is fuzzy. thanks herman

One possibility is that the Mirror behind the lense is dirty but I think that this also may be the light tunnel issue that I explained in a couple of other posts about the SP4805.

Infocus SP4805 buzzing noise

Hi dcabbarno

The buzzing noise is a broken colourwheel and the shadow could be a part of the colourwheel that is obstructing the light engine or it could be your packlight pipe ( tunnel with 4 tiny mirrors in it ) that was damaged when the colourwheel broke.

I do unfortunately not have the part numbers of the parts that I mentioned , but you could assist by opening up the unit and supplying me with the part numbers.

The colourwheel you will spot straight away once you've taken off the top cover of the Projector , the packlight pipe is situated right next to it - looks like a small tunnel that's got 4 mirrors inside it - takes the light into the light engine.

Once you've supplied me with these I can get you prices and places to order it from and will help you with instructins on how to replace them - it is quite easy to DIY.

Thanks for using Fixya !

How much does a light tunnel repair cost?

Hi there

The light tunnel is not a expensive part to have replaced and it is better to do it than to keep on buying new lamps.

You can easily find your nearest Authorised Service Dept online.

Tip : Don't let just any monkey do this type of work on your unit , rather pay a bit more with the authorised agents.

PLEASE HELP!!

It also depends what part you need because although the 3 models look similar none of the parts are compatabile with each other except maybe some body parts and the X1 and X2 share the same light tunnel but it would be a risk to assume that the light tunnel from a used model is OK. The only 2 models that share the same parts are the X1 and SP4800. The X2 is brighter and the SP4805 has a 16:9 native ratio.
