How do I turn off the intercom to my phone

Our office has a Norstr M7310 phone system. It's a tiny office and everytime someone activates the office intercom it blares in my ear. Is there a way to turn off the intercom just on my phone? The office is small enough that I can hear the intercom throughout all the other offices.

Thank you very much.

You could just turn down the speaker volume on your phone.

Dial "F * 0" (Feature, star, zero), which is Button Inquiry, and press an intercom button to see the extension number of the telephone. If Set Relocation is set to "Yes", then the extension number & mailbox will follow the phone when it is moved. Move only two phones at a time, and wait until they completely "boot-up" before moving additional phones.
Hope this helps.

I want to be able to just pick up the handset and have it

Depending on the software level, there is a possible chance for this to work...

first question though... can you dial a 9 to get a line out?
If this is possible, that means that we can change the PRIME LINE for a line pool access rather than intercom.

-> Get into system programming
-> get into TERMINALS&SETS and type in your extension
-> enter LINE ACCESS and hit next till you find PRIME LINE it should say I/C (this is intercom)
-> press change till you see PoolA
-> hit next and RLS to end programming.

Now everytime that you pick up your handset, it will pick the first available line out!

Problem with Speakerphone

It is maybe some setting called Handsfree. On the phones that work, press Feature *0 and press the buttons on the right from the bottom up. The very bottom button should be handsfree/mute and the next one or two Intercom xx(x). Now check the ones that don't work and see if they read the same. I'm guessing not.

It takes system admin access to turn on handsfree per set. Check with your telephone system manager or installer for the programming.
