I am on my 3rd new Epson printer, a Stylus CX3810. It worked great until the original black ink cartridge ran low & I replaced it with a less expensive cartridge. Now, every single time I want to print anything, I have to clean the heads first in order to get a printout. I already talked to Epson about this recurring problem (of course, they want me to use expensive Epson ink). They sent me another new printer. Is there any way around this problem or am I resigned to paying 3-4 times more for Epson ink?
The cartridges I buy, from LD Products at 4inkjets.com, are advertised as 100% compatible and even have 'for use with Epson CX3810' on the box.
What and where are the cartridges of which you speak?
Thanks,

If you are not using Epson ink, your printer will do this. Epson printers hate knock-off ink. Always use Epson ink if you want to keep your printer working properly. To solve the problem you are having, try cleaning the ink tubes. Make sure you re-install them properly. Hope this helps. Charlene
Have you changed the ink cartridges recently? A mis-seated new cartridge was sufficient to stop my epson printer working (different model). A check you might run to verify this would be to try to check the ink level from the printer control panel in windows. If the ink cartridge is not seated correctly you will not get an ink level displayed.
go to printer properties-- click the utility or maintainence tab-in that.click new cartridge installation process.and follow the instruction.its simple.
The printer will never do that, once the cartridge is spent a little divine device inside tells the printer it's been used and spent. You can still print to from the cartridge but it wont warn you when your low on ink, price you pay for not buying a new cartridge.
I'm sorry to say, but I just spoke to epson and the printer will notprint unless all cartridges have ink. The black ink only option is only used to extend the life of color cartriges. Just another way for them to get you to buy things you don't need.
