The touch pad work erratically for about a week and I could get it to work from time to time. the digital display no longer shows a full number , but just one or two marks. the dishwasher will no longer start. Will a new electronic control fix the problem?

Sounds similar to a problem I had with mine. It just appeared to be dead even though the fuse panel wasn't tripped. The top of the dishwasher door has a little hole where with a contact inside of it and when the door is closed, it makes contact with the control panel. I blew into this little hole and like magic the machine worked. I had to try it several times and sometimes I need to use a small paint brush to clean the contact in this hole. I don't know if it's crumbs from the counter or what, but I was so relieved that I didn't call a repairman.
Good luck and let us know if this was a fix.
This means one of two things. The touch pad has failed or the touch pad is locked. Hold down the heated dry button for three seconds. If that does not work, the touch pad would need to be replaced.

Item #959376(fuse) will need to be replaced. Unplug the dishwasher. Remove the 6 screws holding the control panel on. The fuse is on the top right side of the control panel. It has 2 wires going to it,usually black and white. Remove the wires and check the fuse with a meter set for continuity. No continuity is a bad fuse. If the fuse checks OK use the meter on the micro door switch found under the door latch. Remove the wires to the switch, touch the meter leads to the 2 terminals and manually push the switch button in. If no reading on the meter the door switch is bad..
