Nve n852a it keeps trying to load software

About two days ago the unit started trying to load software without anyone touching head unit. I removed the disk, removed all cables to head then put the nav disk back in. all I get is a message software loading, do not remove disk until complete. then a few minutes later it starts all over again.

I have the exact same problem.

I have the NVE-N852A, It has been working for over 4 years.

Today when I started my car, it worked when I started it again for lunch, it said "Loading new software, do not remove DVD-ROM until the Alpine Logo is displayed". This is not the exact word to word but is approximate.

After the status bar goes to 100%, it reboots and does the same thing again.

I also have this problem with my n852a, same screen popping up, and same thing happening--it continually reboots itself 100 percent, then starts over.

I had the same problem.  Send the receiver and $105 to Long Beach and they will fix the receiver.

    I have the same problem.

I take out all the wires. It seems 2-3 times before it stops. It then tries to download the software.

I live in Spain. Are there any workshops that can fix this. I'm also looking for addresses in France and Germany.

In the past I just blew it out with the keyboard cleaner, but this time I had to remove it and take the cover off before I blew it out in order to get it to work. I couldn't tell where the lens was after taking the cover off, but the fix did work. At 10+ years old this unit is getting a bit long in the tooth, but as long as it and the head unit are servicable I'll hang on to them. It does take a while to recalibrate once it finally starts up.

I unplugged the gps as well as the power buttob from the back. I waited 5 minuts and the Alpine logo reappeared. I was just about to send it in but decided to try one last thing. I hope this helps!

Jack7777,

I opened up the Navigation and blew it out with some compressed air and the software loaded up once and the navigation started. Try that.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Garmin Nuvi 1300 (and 1490T) won't start up

A Garmin Nuvi 1300 that won't start, freezes on 'loading maps,' or is acting erratically is symptomatic of having corrupt firmware.

To correct this, I recommend backing up your favorites, clearing all user data, and if it still is stuck, then updating your Nuvi firmware.

Follow these three steps to take to get your Garmin Nuvi 1300 running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

It keeps saying ck dvd rom and dvd rom unreadable.

Hi.

That usually happens because of dirty or defective laser lens. The lens won't recognize the disk inside the player, and will return the no disk error.
In some case the error may also be caused by a firmware fault. This is less common, but it may happen.

Try using a cleaner DVD disk. Give it a couple of runs. If that does not fix the problem, call Alpine at the number listed on the owners manual.

Map down loads

From what I understand, you have a 30 day guarantee for the latest update map. That 30 day stretch starts from the day of first use (not the time of purchase). It it is not a store demonstration unit then you still have 15 days. It goes without saying that if the licensed map has not updated within the 30 days period, there is nothing to update. You can however still use the Map Share feature to download the minor map corrections.

I suggest you frequently connect your unit to the calculator and the Tomtom Home software will do the automatic updates. If a new map is issued within your 30 period you will get. Even if you missed it you should console yourself in the knowledge that major map update are not that frequent. You can also buy other maps from Tomtom.

Alpine sat nav would not load...

This is not uncommon, before resorting to Alpine, try a DVD cleaning disk. It may be necessary to try it up to 6 or 7 times, but it's a lot cheaper than dealer service!!
