Pioneer VSX-D702s receiver - no sound - need help/circuit plan

Hi there

my old Pioneer D702s receiver is out of order.

How it used to be:
I was used to hear a relais clicking after I turned on the unit. Once the relais closed/opened the receiver would work just fine. It used to take only a second or two until the receiver was ready.

How the problem started:
I noticed that my receiver would need more and more time to get ready. Sometimes it would take minutes until I heard a relais clicking.

How it got worse:
That relais click problem got worse. It would need more and more time. Sometimes the problem would even occur when I switched to another input source. I would have to wait for that relais again.

Today:
Receiver turns on. I can select inputs and whatever but theres no sound.

I know that the modell is very old but I like it :) Could someone provide me with a circuit plan or service manual? Anyone having/had trouble with same modell?

Thanks

    I forgot to mention:

Ive already checked for blown fuses, short circuits and bad solder joints. I really need a service manual or advice from somebody whod been dealing with this problem before.

    Thx

The unit is in what is called "protect" mode. A problem was detected in the final output stage and that stage is turned off. The most common reason for this is failed output transistors. This is a simple repair for any repair shop and will cost about $10-$15 for parts plus the local labor charge. Expect that the output transistors plus a few supporting parts to be replaced. Most of the time, only one channel is badm, but due to the design of the protection circuit, both channels are turned off.

I bought a used Pioneer VSX 50 receiver and it did not come with the remote My old remote is not pairing with it. How do I get them to work together?

Hi Pamela,
if the old remote is not for the same make and is not one of those multi remotes that can now be bought then it will not work with the pioneer VSX or if it is from another Pioneer VSX then it may need to have the code re entered by Pioneer.

I would suggest to go to a shop that sels equipment of the same kind and ask for their advice and also whether they do multi controllers that would work, a shop such as Maplin (if you have a Maplin store where you live as they can be very helpful with such problems).

GOOD LUCK.

I have a Pioneer VSX-515-K A/V Reciever. When I plug it in the power relay clicks continuously. I don't have the schematic to troubleshoot the circuit. I just want to make sure it is the relay that's bad...

A bad relay won't pick and release itself. You need to find the cause.

Here's the Service manual.

Page 66and 67 have a timing sequences for power up and down.

Pioneer VSX-01 TXH receiver turns off

Sounds like the speaker circuit is overloading or the receiver is overheating.

Check to make sure all speakers are in phase. Pos to Pos. Neg to Neg.

Make sure receiver has plenty of cooling room.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like the on board computer (micro-processor) is waiting for a process to happen and when it does not happen then the unit times out and shuts off. Could be a mechanical or electrical process. Good luck.
