HOW DO I RECORD WITH A SONY SLV-N77 MANUAL DOES NOT HAVE ANY DIRECTIONS

Looks like a great brand with good features for the price.
  1. Connect Video & Audio Cables to a video signal source
  2. Connect Power Cable
  3. Turn on VCR.
  4. Insert a blank tape in the VCR.
  5. Note - A Broken Tab on the back of tape will prevent recording. This is called Write Protection.
  6. Cover the tab hole if you want to record over old video.
  7. Press RECORD on the VCR remote control.
  8. After a minute, press Stop, then PLAY to see recording.
  9. Cheers

Why GE TV plays color DVD/VCR tapes in black and white

Some inputs on tvs won't process the color signal. Try one of the other inputs. Mine does the same. If u have already used the working ones on something else, U will need a switch to select one or the other available at Radio Shack if u can find one.

Hi,can I record digital transmissions on my sony slv-se820g vcr barry

You can record a digital TV signal on a VHS VCR but only in analog format. The digital signal must be input to the VCR by some component which has a yellow composite video output and a white audio output such as a digital cable TV box or satellite receiver. For over-the-air digital TV, either the TV must output analog video or you need a DTV converter box connected to the VCR. Bottom line, the digital signal must be converted to analog for the VCR since VHS VCRs generally are analog recorders.

Have Sony VCR model SLV-N80/N70 . Cannot get it to record using Samsung TV model SLV-N80,N70.

The television has nothing to do with recording. It is only required for playback. There are a number of possibilities depending on what equipment you have. Do you have cable, satellite, antenna? Your signal source has to be connected to the VCR either through the cable connector, or RCA video jacks.
If you have straight cable, connect the cable to the "ant in" connector on the VCR. The VCRs tuner will select the channel you want to record. If you are on antenna, you will need a Digital set top box (STB) to receive any channels.
If you have a satellite, cable box or digital STB, you must go from the output of the box to the input of the VCR. You can use the standard coax cable, but I would recommend using the audio/video cables for better quality. If using coax, the VCR will have to be set to either channel 3 or 4, depending on the boxes output setting. Using A/V jacks, the VCR will be set to "Line" or "Video" input.
