I had the same problem , you have to clean your freezer compartment out completely and take the covers off the inside back of the freezer being carefull not to break any wires, then defrost the cooling module by hand hot water towels messy job.
Make sure the cooling sensor is attached in the right spot and hasn't fallen down, it has a plastic holder it clicks into.
once clean and defrosted put back together and it will be fine...
Try not to put any frozen chip bags or peas etc right at the back of the freezer this causes the cooling system to freeze up.
How the system works it blows cold air from the freezer compartment down to the fridge to cool it and when the system freezes up no cold air to fridge ,hense the problem you are having...
If you are not confident in doing the job you can call a fisher and Paykel tech and they will charge you $150 to do the job.
Called out F&P engineer, cause was suspected to be leaving freezer door slightly open overnight (not enough to set off alarm, but ajar) - result is system freezes up and typically damages one of the internal components/fittings. This is a known fault and the engineer replaced the part with a more reliable component.

if freezer gets iced up the fan designed to pass cold air from the freezer to the fridge stops working. The freezer is meant to go into a defrost mode when its trtansducer senses too much ice. If the transducer goes fault the ice builds up. Some fridges use a timer to work this out so it could be a timer fault. Talk to a service man about how much ice the freezer should have for them to sucessfully diagnose the fault. Too much ice may prevent the service man from working out if temperature sensor is working and no ice can prevent him from testing sensor. To get rid of ice you have to trun off the power to the fridge and let it melt.
BEWARE remove food to another freezer and fridge to prevent food going off or getting food poisioning
Many times a freezer and/or refrigeratordo not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many otherthings that can go wrong.

What your describing is a result of either an automatic defrosting problem or an Air Damper problem.
Here is what you can do to determine if it is a defrost issue or an Air Damper issue.
1. Unplug the unit
2. Empty the freezer section ONLY contents
3. Place a fan blowing into the freezer section for a little over 2 hours. NOTE: This will make a water mess so be prepared.
4. After the manual defrosting session with the fan re-load the freezer contents and plug the unit back in.
5. Check food section temps in about 4 hours.
NORMAL temps you have an automatic defrost problem
WARM temps you have an Air Damper Problem.
Either of the above will require further troubleshooting or service. At least you will know where to start or... what to tell a service person.

1. Your freezer is not working great. If it is frosting up, frozen packages will soon beging to soften also.
2. All of the cooling takes place in the freezer compartment. A fan blows air over the coils in the freezer, and directs some of it into the fresh foods side to cool it. When the coils become blocked with frost, the air can no longer flow into the fresh foods compartment. Result is warming of FF area. You may also see freezing in the bottom FF bin, water dispenser not working, FRZ section warm, etc.
3. Manually defrosting the coils will temporarilly solve your problem, but it will reappear in a few days to a week or so. (depending on door openings, ambient temp, etc)
4. The motherboard controls the defrost interval and (although not the most common) certainly can be a cause of defrost failure. If a qualified servicer diagnosed it as such, it most likely is just that.
(After trying FixYa and paying for the premium service -- during which error codes were not even discussed) I called a service tech. Turns out it was the fan above the fridge side (which explains why the freezer was still working fine) that was "humming" but not always spinning. A quck swap of the fan and we were back in business.
FYI -- The SubZero tech said it was very uncommon for the fans to go bad.
