Hi johnny4reva, it might be a videocard problem wherein the display is not showing but the laptop is on. Another reason is that the monitor is powered off... I suggest you call the technical support of your brand for further assistance...

Try to press Fn + F2 once you run on the computer. Or you can try to perfrom power drain on your computer. Inorder to do this, turn off the computer then take out the battery and unplug the power adapter then press and hold the power button for 30secs. Put the the battery back in and plug in the power adapter. Turn on the computer then observe.

Let me know if same issue will occur.

It might be your display driver if nothing shows up on your screen. Also it could be your hard drive, but I wouldn't know about that unless your screen came on so it's your display driver. Hope this helps!?

Screen wont come on

I'd like you to start off by connecting an external display to your laptop, and see if a display (Graphics) shows on it. (The Display Toggle-Over key, and Fn may need to be used) From there we will know if the graphics chipset is good. Graphics chipset good, the problem is the Video Cable, or in the Display Assembly. (Display Assembly; essentially from the Display Cover to the Display Bezel. Includes LCD screen, screen Inverter, (If used and not LED backlighting), Wireless antenna, etc) Post back in a Comment with the Acer model number. This can be found on the Bottom of the laptop. I like to post concise information, and not a generic one size fits all solution. Regards, joecoolvette

Possible that PC is hanging up as there is fault on the OS (operating system) or a virus in the OS. Also it is possible that the backup battery (CMOS) has low voltage or the memory card is a suspect. In this case you need to check the voltage and also try and swap a memory card. Sometimes the memory card connections can be faulty either on the card or on the slot. Cleaning the slot and card must be done before you try a replacement. If the PC boots and fails then the hard disc can have bad sectors or is corrupt. However if there is no result the motherboard also can be suspected. In this case you might need the help of proper tools and equipment support to do a chip level service.

Hi ive got a dell studio laptop the laptop powers up but nothing comes on the screen. The screen is less than 12 months old

HI there.
Try this things first so that you can check if it is really the screen that's causing the problem,
While the computer is off, press D+POWER button and hold it for 5 secs, different colors should come up,
Make sure the computer turns on. You will know that if the power button lights up. Try to lug in an external monitor and see if display will come up,
If the display comes up, and the d+power did not display anything, might want to call technical support so you can get the screen replaced,
Have a good day!
