Dvd player wont recognize newly burned dvd

I have a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T10N System in my acer laptop.Recently purchased a new DVD player recorder from Magnavox and the home burned DVDs are not recognized in my laptop.After calling Magnavox they stated that my player in my laptop was not updated enough to recognize this new Magnavox player recorder.My laptop plays my old home burns from an old player recorder so I know that my laptop works.I have another different magnavox player that recognizes and plays the home burns so I know that they can play in a player.Are there update drivers for my laptop DVD Ram system???
