  • Anonymous Jul 19, 2009

    Try these one out first:

Using the remote control, press the "setup" button and use the right arrow key to advance to the far right-hand tab entitled "Preferences"

Note: If there is a disc in the player, you will NOT see the "Preferences" tab!!!!

Enter code number 1379 and then use the up and down arrows to change the arrow code to match the DVD you want to play.

If that don't work, try this:

    1) turn on the dvd
    2) open the tray
    3) enter 9735
    4) change the region code
    5) exit to main menu

If that don't work, then try this:

When power on, press the "eject" button to open the drive
    b) Press the button of "Title" on the remote control
    c) Press "Previous Page"
    d) Press "Next Page"
    e) Now enter the region code you want

Hi, its seems like theres a bit of confusion out there on the web about region codes, on new dvd players (last 5 years) it is not possible to change the region. The technology that controls region coding is hard wired into the dvd player itself it can't be changed via the remote or by a software update etc..
The region is decided by the manufacturer in production, so U.S dvd players are manufactured to
region 1 (U.S, Canada) specifications, I live in the U.K so if I bought an FXM-1911C where I live it would be manufactured to region 2(Western Europe) specifications, and I would not be able to play U.S dvds
This is common amongst the majority of dvd players
http://www.polaroid.com/service/userguides/ce/lcd_tvs/fxm1911c_ug.pdf
Your player states on page 33 that it will only play dvd's from the region that it is intended for.
I know its annoying and I think its arguably not fair that they do this, but it was a decision made by the manufacterers, this is not the case with blu-ray discs which tend to be a lot more forgiving region wise.
If you nee dto watch films with a region different to that of your player, you can either try running on a Pc's dvd player, where often you are allowed to change region a limited number of times , or if you intend to watch a lot think about investing in something like
http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Philips-Multi-region-DVD-Player-with-HDMI-Refurb/3032261/product.html?cid=133635
Its £31 or $50 and will play dvd's from any region, plus you could hook it up to the video inputs on your fxm-1911c
Hope it works out for you

You will have to get new remote.it comes with company book let that has all the region code.to make it function and work.
as this codes are only available with company.also if the remote circuit becomes faulty the orignal region code will not get detected.the other reason.if you try the faulty region code more then 5 times the circuit gets blocked and stops detecting region code.
you can go for new remote.to get all the required codes.

I am not sure of all the troubleshooting you have gone through already.

Have you tried pushing 1379 on your remote?
If not, try that, it will display the current region... choose 9 (region free).

Unfortunately not all dvd players allow you to change region codes. The one built into your unit is one of those kind of players. Polaroid chose to lock the region to the country that the units were sold from. The only way to have the unit play dvd's from other regions is to buy a unit from that country.

  • bvanjoff Jul 19, 2009

I've searched all of the sites that have region hacking codes and your unit is not listed on any of them. As stated earlier, unfortunately the manufacturer chose to lock the region code down for your unit.

Hello Trence,

After searching for a solution to your problem, checking private and public database's for region hacks. I was unable to find a solution specifically for your make and model of dvd player. ( There are less known hacks for built in dvd players)

There is one universal code for Polaroid dvd players altho this is not 100% sure to work for you but you can try it.

1. Turn on unit
2. Open lid
(All instructions on remote)
3. Press SETUP
4. Use the down-arrow to reach PREFERENCES menu
5. Press ENTER
6. Use the down-arrow to reach DEFAULTS menu
7. Press SETUP
8. Press 1379 (You will see ---- appear one at a time)
9. Press ENTER until you reach desired region (9 for region-free)
10. Press STOP

Post back if this does in fact work for you, if it does not then honestly there is no hack for your built in dvd player. I have put in a request with the private site I belong to and they will have there experts try and find a process that will work with your dvd player.

  • Quickfx PC Repair Jul 18, 2009

I'm sad to hear that the method described did not work. As I previously stated there are no other known process's to for your DVD player.

The simple fact that it is a built in DVD player, lowers the chance of there being ANY possible way to hack the region settings.

These process's are not standard company supplied information. These are mod's and hacks discovered by electronic experts. Built in DVD players are alot harder to test and find solutions thus making it rare that anyone ever figures out a way to do so.

****The only other suggestion I can make is that you focus on changing the DVD's region settings. Do you have a DVD Burner/Writer on your PC ? Post back and let me know please, and I can explain how you can change the DVD's region settings.

  • Quickfx PC Repair Jul 19, 2009

I'm sorry no one else could find a solution for you. I don't take it personal that you didn't believe me when I was the first to say there is not a solution out there for your DVD player. I have asked a group of experts whom run the private site I belong to, to research the matter but it could take weeks before they find a solution if it's even possible. Not all DVD players have region hacks...that is just a fact.

I am very sorry to say you will not find one, the only option you have is making the DVD itself region free which I can help you do if you have a DVD burner in your computer.

I WANT TO CONVERT MY TOSHIBA SD501 KB DVD PLAYER INTO A MULTI-REGION PLAYER. HOW CAN I ACCOMPLISH THIS TASK?

Hi,
On most of the DVD players regional set up cannot be changed. However just for trying; type your players brand and model number into goggle along with 'hack code' and you should be able to find some codes to change the region code on your player. You need to find the correct 'Hack' for your model.
Google 'DVD Hacks', there are many sites out there that will provide the details.
It generally consists of pressing a secret sequence of buttons on the remote.
Like holding the mute button down and simultaneously pressing 6758, they are all different.
It then enters a special mode where you can change the DVD region or make it region free.
In my experience the major brands like Sony, Sharp, JVC, Toshiba,Panasonic etc are harder to change, I guess the major players do not want copyright issues.
The cheaper DVD players as unbranded, or never heard of, are better. They are all "MULTI REGION " or "region free "players play any region dvd.

additional info for DVD regions:
DVD region codes are a digital-rights management technique
designed to allow film distributors to control aspects of a release, including
content, release date, and price, according to the region.DVD video discs may be
encoded with a region code restricting the area of the world in which they can
be played.

The American DVD Copy Control Association in California requires that DVD-player
manufacturers incorporate the regional-playback control (RPC) system - according
to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, an Australian government
agency.

There are six different official regions and two informal variations.[citation
needed] DVDs may use one code, a combination of codes (Multi-Region), most
codes (Region 0) or every code/no codes (Region All). The commercial DVD player
specification requires that a player to be sold in a given place not play discs
encoded for a different region; however, region-free DVD players are also
commercially available.
